Sigs

BTW, before I peruse the entire thread, does anyone with the 239 in 9mm have a suggestion on a good defensive/carry round?
I carry Federal Hi-Shok 115gr JHPs in my P239 SAS. They have a muzzle velocity of 1160 fps with 345 ft-lbs of energy.
There are so many good SD ammos out there. The great thing about Sigs is that they'll eat up just about anything ;)

Crimp-
Should probably call you MR. Crimp after seeing that target :what:
Thats some great shootin!
I'm glad your P6 likes the JHPs.

gb6491-
Tom and Michelle at TGS are good people.
I've had all great experiences will all of my purchases from them.

USMCDK-
What do you do at SIG??

Yowsa. Got the call I'd been waiting for from the dealer.
Some NICS supervisor decided I was no threat to national
security ;) and my delay transitioned to proceed.
The P239 was ready & waitin' for me!

I had to do a little prep on it right away, before testing it out
at the range. The internals and the mags came out of the box
slathered in preservative. Yuck! I didn't have my cleaning gear with me,
but the guys at the shop gave me what I needed and I FS'd it and
and cleaned 'er up. I'm probably going to want to detail strip it tomorrow,
to check out how deep the preservative treatment went.

Anyway, took it downstairs to the range and had a ball. What a solid,
accurate piece of weaponry! This is my first DA/SA handgun, so my initial
2 mags were devoted to getting used to the action mechanics and trigger
pull. Then I fired about 40 more rounds of S&B FMJ ball through it.
Really sweet, tight center-mass groupings at 21 feet. Should have saved
the target. :D I decided 50 rounds was enough for my first session, so I'm
saving a 45 ft. range test for the weekend, although I have every confidence
my new P239 will do all it can to help this self-professed, a-tad-better-than-average
shooter to continue to improve. Man, I really love this weapon!

I'm not much of a phtographer, but I'll try and post a picture of my new
pal in a day or so. I'll also let ya'll know how it (and I) perform at the
longer distance. Overall, today was a damned great day!

Well I am a new member, just purchased a 226 SCT in 9mm. Already put the small trigger, and a reduced power hammer spring. Not quite done yet though, I want to get the SRT kit installed, along with a DPM recoil rod, and the Hogue Extreme Grips.

Thanks for posting that picture 9mm!
Does Sig have a price in mind for it??
Will it fit both stamped slide and milled slide P226s??
I'd be willing to buy one as long as the price wasn't too far out of line.

Pa.Bill, PPGMD, Wesson Smith-
Welcome!
Bill, what part of Pa??

When did Sig stop including test targets with the pistols?
I believe Sig still has them for the X5, but I guess when you are spending that much $$, you should get at least a test target
I think they stopped putting them in with the regular production guns somewhere in the mid 90's.

the MSRP is ~$370 (i thought it'd be closer to $500)...so i'm thinking $300 should be the ballpark. the 226 will be introduced first, followed by the 228/229 and then the 220...a frame is a frame

did you want to see a picture of the 250 in .45?

1st handgun puchased today

Hello everyone, new to the forums and just bought my 1st handgun a Sig P226 9mm with the Equinox style slide today. Now the wait until Saturday to pick it up. I picked it up new for just over 700 today (just $20.00 more then the price as the standard P226) and it comes with the night sights. (Was that a pretty good price at dealer?)

Well Im glad to be a part of the Sig Family!!!:)

Great first choice, and with Equinox finish, very sweet

It will seem like the longest wait, but be sure to take her apart, inspect, "clean and oil her good" before taking her out to lunch at the range.

We need some Pictures of her, for your final qualifications into the club.. :)

Enjoy,

Splurch-
Welcome to THR and the "club"! :)
Thanks for putting your first post here.

Sounds like you bought a PME - Poor Mans Equinox.
When you're finally allowed to get your gun  , check the bar code on your box. The Sig item number will probably have the letters PME in it.
I bought one about a year ago. It's a great gun. I've only put about 600 rounds through her (I have an older W.German P226 9mm that I shoot most of the time) and she's been perfect so far. I bought a set of the Sig walnut grips to put on it.

Like LS49 said, take her apart and clean all the Sig goo off of her (especially the magazines) before you shoot her. Sig like to use ALOT of goo in the mags. If you need any help, post your question here and someone should be able to help you.

Make sure you give us a range report and maybe a picture after you get her dirty.

Here are a couple of pictures to hold you over ..... lol!

...

Do yourself a lifelong favor.. start off with a P229 40cal.. The Ultimate HD/SD, ccw, Sig that is the best of both worlds, over 9mm, and under 45cal.

I shot 100 rounds of 180gr FMJ and JHP from one today and achieved immortality.. Tightest groups, quickest follow-up shots, staying grouped, bar none, of any other Sig I have, and far better than my Px4 40 (for sale) and far less recoil.

After you fire it the first time, you'll understand, then you can start your Sig collection over your lifetime.. :)

Lonestar49 Thanks for the advise but I do have a couple of Sigs now.
My first was a SP2340 .40 and the accuracy is what made me look deeper into the Sig line. I then aquired a P245 and was in heaven with the accuracy, reliability and concealability.
I'm a fan of the .45 acp (but not married to it) so next I picked up a P220. All I can say is wow. Those who have shot one know what I'm talking about. Those who haven't, put it on your list of things to do.
Funny you should mention the 229 .40, that is next on my list and the piggy bank is being stuffed to make that aquisition. Nice to hear you like it so well, I shot one at a Sig Day's event and loved it!
I think I need to get a piggy bank going for each model....

It's Official then.. lol

Hey Jeff,

I had no idea, but you're IN the Sig_Club.. with both feet.. lol

Yea, P220's, either full size or Carry are "sweet shooters" without doubt.. :)

Welcome!
Sounds like you've got IT bad ...lol

If you like the fit and feel of the P220, you have to try a P225.
With the price of 9mm, I find myself shooting my 40 and 45 Sigs alot less.
I've shot about 3000 rounds of 9mm in the last 3 months - mostly through my P226 (practicing for IDPA).
I do get my P229 .40S&W DAK dirty, but not as much.
I like the Piggy bank idea. Maybe you can start making Piggy banks in the shape of the different Sigs and call them Siggy banks  (sorry..lol)

LS-
You sellin that Beretta to finance another Sig??? :D

That was baaad. But it would make it easier to make deposits.
Thanks for the welcome!
I've read here for a long time and enjoy the discussions, the Sig Club made me post.
It's hard to pass up the deals on the P6/225, I've never shot either and I'm not sure if the local range would have a rental, but I would buy just on the reputation alone.
Again, thanks for the welcome.

Sold my P229 to a coworker. I loved everything but shooting it, so I sent it on to a good home.
