"Silencer" made from old car tyres?

I thought sound moderators were very much encouraged in Finland, Sweden and Norway. I may be (most likely) mistaken, but I had heard that there were legal ramifications for NOT using a sound moderator on centerfire firearms.

The baffled system using bulk styrofoam does sound like a potentially good method.

Rabbit, I don't know about encouraged, if you mean by the authorities. But sound suppressors are legal in Norway and Finland. In Sweden you need a permit, which can be from difficult to near impossible to get if I understand the situation correctly.

I can't think of any legal ramifications for NOT using a sound moderator, except of course that a suppressor may allow you to shoot in a location where shooting would otherwise be illegal or unpopular because of the noise.

The only place I can remember having seen the authorities encourage the general use of suppressors, is in the UK. :D

T.S., you can't hunt with a suppressor in Finland?
