I needed an inexpensive, but not cheap, scope with at least decent glass. The Whitetail Classics have always gotten good reviews, so when I saw this scope on sale I ordered one. The Mil-Dot version is on sale as well for only $15 more. I have had a couple of Simmons scopes over the years and have always felt they were good scopes for the money. (The ones I had)

The scope arrived today. I did not mount it on anything but took it outside for a look. I am very impressed. It was very clear (edge to edge clear), despite it being late and losing light. It remained clear when changing from 6.5X to 20X without any adjustments. The parallax adjustment seemed to be pretty close to the marks. (Best I could tell from guessing 100 & 200 yards.) The power adjustment was very smooth and not too tight while being snug enough to stay put. The parallax adjustment was quite smooth as well.

I would be very happy with it if I had paid the normal $250, but I am extremely pleased for $110. If someone is in the market for something like this, I can highly recommend it.

I also have been eyeballing the Vortex Viper 6.5X20X44 at $400 for some time. The fine crosshair target dot version is being cleared out at SWFA for $250. I like the FCHTD recticles, so I ordered one of them as well. I have a couple of other scopes with that type recticle.I can't wait to try the Vortex out when it gets here. AC

My expereince as well - I'm very impressed with the glass quality. However, the crosshairs are a bit too thick for "precision" shooting - excellent for hunting but not target play. I have the exact model you mentioned above that I bought this year. $75 for anyone who wants it (with Butler Creek covers). I just need something with a finer reticle.

i bought the exact same scope about a year ago and was shocked by the clarity vs price.

ive bought 4 more since from midway.

Don't ever pass up the Whitetail Expedition...better still.... The story goes something like, these Expeditions were made at one factory, those Simmons were made in another. The glass, at a minimum, on the Expedition I believe was made in Japan. Holding one up next to a Leupold VIII and you get an idea of how much you're paying for a lifetime Leupy warranty ; )
