I have a Norinco SKS. It has the bayonet lug and everything, but (I believe) was brought in AFTER 922 but before the ATF started to make the importers grind off the lug.

First question, I saw a fixed 20 round Chinese magazine for $39 at a gun show. Is that a good deal, and does anyone have any experience with the reliability of the larger capacity fixed magazines? With the stripper clips I have no need for a detachable mag, but thought that the 20 round mag might be more convenient for shooting.

Second, I really like this rifle. With the AWB gone, now the only thing that stands between me doing whatever I want with this rifle is that stupid 922. Does anyone know of where I can get US compliance parts? Tapco sells a couple, but not nearly enough to bring the imported count number down below 10. I have a feeling that even if I can find them, it will be more money than I want to spend on a rifle I paid $115 for, but it would at least give me that option.

Finally, if the parts would be available, does anyone know of a site that already has a list made up of the easiest way to reach 922 compliance?

Thanks!

As BadgerArms demonstrated here no more than ten days ago, you can reach the magic 'ten parts or less' count via the Tapco catalog but you'll have to restock the rifle to do it. AFAIK, nobody makes US-made trigger group parts, so the best you can do is replace the magazine (and follower and such) and stock (and hardguard and such) and gas pistol and operating rod. That should get you to 10 parts (of the listed 20) that are original Norinco, and you'd then be good to go.
