I think there is some confusion on altering yugo 59/66 sks's. You can remove features of a 59/66 where it is no longer c&r but still be 922r compliant. If you remove all the evil features like the bayo, lug and grenade launcher, then cut the barrel, yes the rifle is no longer c&r but it is importable as a sporting rifle. If it is importable then it isn't in violation of 922r. Now if a pistol grip, and hicap detachable mags are added the rifle no longer is importable as a sporting rifle and the ten parts game begins to make it comply with 922r. Mark

Sniper Norinco SKS

Picked up a 3x9 mil-dot scope with an included range chart. Just need the scope mount to get here.
Got my versa-pod bipod in today from Cabellas. Its installed, and all I`m waiting for now is my scope mount from Marstar in Ontario.

They have cool stuff.

This is my Chinese "hunter" imported by Poly-Tech. I love, love, love this rifle! I am actually getting ready to do a bunch of upgrades on it, starting with that new Tapco adjustable stock.

It looks like most of yall keep the original 10-round fixed mag. I hear that the hi-cap mags reliability can be suspect, but I figured there would still be more of yall with them.

I wouldnt let anyone near any of my SKSs with an aftermarket duckbill mag. If I wanna go that route I will use one of my AK47s......why ruin a good guns reputation for reliability with some ill made junk magazines made from the old fenders of import cars.

I appreciate the SKS for what it is. No need to make into something it's not.

Yeah, I realize that. I'm just thinking that it would be nice to add a 20 round mag, and leave it in place (reload in the same manner as the original mag). Ideally I'd go with a Chinese "star" 20 round fixed mag, but the one's I've found online are nearly as expensive as the gun itself.

What I really dont understand is why nobody has developed aftermarket mags for the SKS that functions reliably. You'd think that with a little time and effort, a manufacturer could do it.

Here's one from the old days... some buddies and I back when we were 15 and 16. Good times blowin stuff up at the dump! The pic is slanted because we put the camera on time-delay on top of the TV we just got done laying waste to. ;) The guns from left to right are: Ruger 10/22, Norinco SKS, Century SAR-1, and a single shot .410 "snake charmer."
