Ok i have found a Norinco SKS at a shop I frequently go into. It has been "upgraded" with a Tapco folding stock, 10 and 30 rd. mags., and a three dot scope. I know Yugos are selling at around $200 for a very good condition rifle. The shop has this Norinco for $325, is that a fair price or is he too high? I am looking at getting my C&R (just need to get my CLEO signature) so I could get the Yugo soon. I was wonderng everyones thoughts are. Thanks in advance everyone.

Transformerguru:

Have you checked 'GunBroker.com'? They have an interesting variety/quantity of guns and ammo.
I used it to find my Mini 30, with the help of a very decisive phone call.

They usually have about 30-40 SKS of various origins: Yugo, Chinese Norinco, Russian, even Albanian.
Another site which is all about the SKS claims that the so-called "Paratrooper" verson was modified with the end of the barrel cut off.

The gun was reportedly never built for paratroopers and the modification was never done in the original country, but after being imported somewhere.

The Norinco SKS is a find gun but I’d save my money, get my 03 FFL, and find a nice original condition Russian or Yugo.

Personally, I wouldn't; at least at that price. Not for a Chinese SKS that may well have been seriously screwed up when "upgraded." My view, and it's just that: my view, is that the SKS is best in its original configuration. If you want something with a folding stock and detachable mags, get a cheap AK-clone.

At a gun show you could probably find a decent SKS for around $225 and an AK-clone with a folding stock for less than $450. Russian is generally best (although if you can somehow find East German, jump on it!); my understanding is that Yugoslavian is the bottom for SKS and Romanian is the bottom for AK-clones.
