SKS question (quick)

Does it matter which direction the recoil spring goes in on my Yugo SKS? I put it in with the rod half pointing towards the muzzle, it that the right way? Also where should the back of the recoil/rod sit? It seems to just rest against the back of the top cover, is that right?

Are there any pics out there or can someone take a pic of the correct position of the recoil spring/rod in place?

Put the squiggly end of the spring in first. Yes, the base of the rod will rest on the lug of the cover. www.ak-47.net and www.simonov.net are good sources for info.

The "curly" end goes in barrel first. The back of the recoil rod and spring do rest against the back of the receiver cover.
