Has anyone put a slip-on Limbsaver pad on a K-31? I'm not entirely clear, based on Limbsaver's site, what size would fit best.

I'm looking for a little bit more LOP, and more forgiveness when I use it from the bench or when I mount it too hastily.

I'm receptive to other brand recommendations (I have more than one K-31 :) ) if someone equally positive experiences.

I put a slip-on Limbsavers pad on my Yugo M48. It works perfectly! I can shoot 100 rounds in one session with just a little soreness. If you go to www.cabelas.com I ordered mine off of there. As for the size, just measure the vertical height of the buttstock, and the width of the very end plate that fits to your shoulder. Your pad should be a TAD bigger dimensions than the dimensions of the rifle stock. No worries, if you manage to mess up, they have an order form for another one so long as you mark the correct box (i.e. slip on too small/big) you'll get another one if you send it back.

I use a black leather Pachmayr slip on pad in size small, fits most all my mil-surps including my K-31. I like it because the velcro strap allows it to be taken off the gun quickly. Very comfy and gives the reach my monkey arms need. I think it looks better than some of the all rubber ones.

I could one on my PTR-91. Do those things add any significant length to the stock?

I haven't really seen the need for one on my K31s. I don't typically shoot it a great deal at one time anymore since I noticed the groups open up so much as the rifle heats up. I really noticed that with the scope mounted.

This may well be the first post I've read that was negative about K31 accuracy. Tell me more.

Not really a negative, but I have noticed my groups open up if I shoot several shots in a row. I am sure if I am patient and take my time shooting, I don't have a problem. Before I mounted my scope, I liked to fire through a full magazine. That straight pull action is fun that way.

I find K31 recoil to be largely negligible, but at the last gunshow I was at one of the dedicated milsurp tables was including a free "cheapie" recoil pad with every gun. That covers 7.5x55, 7.62x54R, 8mm, .30-06, .308 (conversion), etc. etc. etc.

As for the heat/spread, I haven't noticed the K31 being any more susceptible than any of my other rifles to heat soaking.

I have a limbsaver slip on that I've been swapping back and forth between a stevens 311 and my k-31. Works great, although with the butt of the rifle as wide as it is, the fit is a little off (doesn't seem to affect it functionally). I had a pachmayr decelerator on there before, and this is noticably better. I believe mine's a medium, but I'll check when I get home. The limbsaver probably added around an 1" LOP to mine...

270Win, I think you are correct on the K31 not being any worse, but the gun is really precise for me makes it more noticeable. I have probably not taken the time to notice it with my semi-autos.

It is a medium. The butt of the gun is a little wider than the base of the pad, but it still fits length-wise. Additional LOP is probably closer to 3/4".
