I didn't read the other posts but I have both . I love the CZ pistols. They ROCK ! But I also have Glock pistols and they ROCK too. Due to the low number of parts in the Glock I would choose the Glock in a battle or self defense situation. I have detailed stripped a CZ 75 and there are TOO MANY parts that can go wrong and just too many moving parts to rely on as a self defense gun .

I'll agree that the Glock is an elegantly simple design and both the Glock and CZ rock. Had Glock made their original model look like a striker-fired 1911, they'd probably be one of the few guns you could buy today!! (I doubt that would have greatly modified the price or the functionality of the gun that much.)

As for reliability -- too many parts MIGHT be an issue, or might not.

Aircraft are much more complex today than they were just 30 years ago, but they're far safer...The smallest Toyotas probably don't have a lot fewer parts than far less-reliable cars (like the notorious YUGO).

I would argue that the NUMBER of parts isn't as big an issue as how well those parts are made and how well they work together.

Walt, I agree with that whole heartily.

I very rarely take into consideration how complicated detail stripping a pistol is into a decsion.
I've had a harder time detailing lever actions than any pistol. They're the bane of my existence. They're also my favorite carbines.
I don't take ANY gun down to pins and springs very often, and when I do, it's typically for something considered a gunsmith job. I.E. something I wouldn't trust the average gun owner to be able to, or willing to do anyways.

I may take into consideration how easy one is to clean, but unless it's a total bear of a task it's another non issues. I've used every guiderod style in various sized 1911's and think it's a pretty simple task. I didn't think the Desert Eagles were very complicated of a task either which was one of the reasons the seller was well, the seller (the other being FTE/FTF issued caused from improper maintenance but was an easy fix. Who uses a rubber gasket for an extractor spring?!).

I'd rather have a easy to shoot gun, rather than one easy to take apart.
