My Utas XTR12 is a beast of a shotgun. It kicks like a pissed off mule on steroids that’s showing off for the ladies. I can’t imagine any of the cheap optics that I currently own would even come close to being durable enough to survive the recoil that this gun produces. Does anybody have any recommendations? Perhaps somebody has used an optic on a Tac14 or Shockwave with full power slugs or buckshot... yes it truthfully is ridiculous, so much so that the gun is hardly enjoyable, but it would be fun to hunt deer with so I’m considering it as an option.

My 50 BMG has turned one optic into a kaleidoscope, put an old Tasco on it to finish out the day and it worked like a champ, so you never know, unless you try it.

I worked on a well worn ksg that had an eotech on it. Had survived many a round. I fixed the gun and shot it to verify function. But it's still going with that eotech.

I have a cheap ADE red dot from Amazon on a 10mm Glock. Its been pretty tough. For hunting and steel shooting its worked great. I still wouldn't trust it for SD though.

My 12 ga. Remington 870 dedicated slug gun has had the same 2.5x Leupold fixed power on it since 1987. Got another one on the Mossberg 500 12 ga. Turkey gun that's been on there for 19 or 20 years now. IMG_8627.JPG ..... IMG_1869.JPG ..... Between the two of 'em that's a lot of full power slugs and turkey loads over a lot of years with no problems at all. For shotgun deer hunting 2.5x is perfectly adequate and I've come to appreciate the wider field of view you get vs. higher magnification scopes. Light weight also but still tough. The 870 once fell out of a tree in the early 1990's and never lost zero. Even if you don't get one of these just check out the fixed power, lower magnification scopes that still have enough power for shotgun hunting with less moving parts inside to malfunction.

Had a leupold vx1 on a .375 ruger for 3 years. Handled hot 300 grainers never lost zero ever. Your recoil may be sharper but I’d look at the freedom line from Leupold. I just picked one up and it is quite good for the 200 bones I paid. If that beast does knock it loose leupold also has a warranty.
