I am loading with winchester brass for a CZ 527 in 7.62x39. The winchester brass has large primers. I also have some R-P brass with small primers that I would like to load. Will there be any differences, or will there be any changes that need to be made when switching to the small primer brass? If it makes any difference the load that I am using is 28 grains of Hogdgon H322 with a 150 gr. sierra prohunter at 2.22 O.A.L. and CCI 200 primer.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Marty

i just did my first loads with small primer rp brass and cci srp 25.8gr reloader 7 123gr speer col 2.195 and saw no difference from the same load with cci lrp. they all ran at 2160 to 2180 fps out of 16 inch barrel ak the yugo sks put them at 2240 fps. reloader 7 is fast powder i think the 322 is a little slower and ball like the 335 i use in 223. i have never loaded that heavy of a bullet with this round but this is what i have seen so far. if you see a big drop off or lots of unburnt powder try mag primers and work that up.

The general idea is that when change any component in your load you should back it down a bit and work up again. Usually around 10% backing down.

I have done this with a couple handgun calibers and found no difference. About the same as changing within different brands of primer. That said it is wise to back down a couple notches and load 10 or so of each downgrade and try them before duplicating them exactly for the first time just as a precaution. FWIW I always do it anyway just to be extra safe.:).
