I have a Glock 27 that I carry in a Smartcarry setup for deep concealment. It is somewhat uncomfortable because the gun pokes me in the bladder when sitting.

Would a Ruger SP101 with a 2 1/4" barrel be more comfortable? It is actually a longer gun. However, I don't know if the revolver would be more user friendly when sitting?

Any help?

I carry a S&W 642 J frame daily, in a smartcarry. It does not poke me anywhere. Are you wearing it to high? It is not an IWB type holster. The grip of my 642 is about even with the top of my pants pocket (for reference) Back to your question, the revolver should not give you any problems in that holster. I have never carried a G27 though.

I think it's more a question of anatomy than the firearm itself. Some of us are gravitically challenged to a greater extent than others, and extra flesh in the critical area will undoubtedly lead to "pressure points".

;)

Personal ''proportions'' have a lot to do with it IMO - I have a SmartCarry - and keep it for the odd occasion when deep means deep. When I first had it I successfully managed to carry the P95 .. despite its bulk. Orientation within the ''pouch'' is a bit critical tho.

Nowadays if I used it - it'd be probably nothing larger than say SW99 ... some sorta compact. Some folks, with ''not too much'' out front :p - reckon they can wear it high, and above belt line - not tried that yet. :)

I am 5'9", 165lbs, 32" waist. I carry it exactly like Charlie recommends. Standing is a breeze. Sitting is a whole different story. I think I need a shorter gun.

I carry a 3†Sp101 in mine without any problem. If I’m sitting in a vehicle I just pull the holster up so that the grip is just above the beltline and then just move it back to the original position or leave it there when I’m up and about.
