Just picked up a nice S&W 19-4 w/ 2 1/2" bbl and covobela grips. It is pinned and recessed. A little worn mark on left underside tip of barrel. Nice little shooter.
been looking over the net trying to find out when it was made but no luck. The SN# is 27K1xxx. Any ideas out there on the mfg date??
thanks

My uncle has this exact gun and his is pristine. Wish he would sell it to me... Congrats on the new 19, they are excellent revolvers.

Mine is a 19-7 and is the only Smith revolver I have. i am not sure what the going price is for these guns. It really doesn't matter at this point because it will not be going away. Yours is older than mine.I was looking for an older gun when this one came to me, but I'll keep it. Need to shoot it more!

I just picked up a 19-5 with a 4" barrel...Beautiful Nickle Plated...I have asked (posted) in the S&W ID Post, but haven't heard anything back...my serial number is AVD437x...I feel like I should turn myself in...I walked out the door at a local shop for right at $200

Congratulations on the new weapon. A 357 worth much praise. A revolver that has made its mark in history.
We'd love to see some pics. :)

Thanks,

Sorry the pics are blurry...was in a hurry. I would rate it 90-95%...I'm going to try and buff some of the handling scuffs out of it tomorrow...Feel like I got a pretty good deal on it though...

See if this comes out Pic of 19-4

Here's a shot of my old girl. Model 19-4 nickel purchased new 2/1980. Was my duty weapon for a couple of years until we went to the Model 66. Definitely not a safe queen but still in great shape.

And my 19-5. $350 bucks, tax included. Could not pass it up. Quite tight and shot little.

Unfortunately, there's way too many guys up here snapping up all the nice Model 19s that become available. Still kicking myself for selling my pristine 4" 19-4 (the coolest .357 ever made) ...

That nickeled one looks pretty sharp there, too, Mountainman (your -5 as well, Caleb) ...

That would be about July 1987.

And you stole it! :D

M19s don't languish in the case very long here either.

M-19's are one of my all time fav handguns! Here's one of mine, chambered in 44spl.,

I've had a long love afair with M-19's since i bought the first one, above, in the early 70's.

Now can you imagine a 2 1/2 inch 19 or 66 in .44 spl.!!!!

Now that would be a light and powerful piece for CCW.

I don't find the 4" to be too long of a bbl. for a "K" frame at all, and it gives a bit more velocity and is a bit easier to shoot.
