I was out yesterday and I found this Nickel 2.5" Model 19-3 literally hiding under the counter at Sportsman Warehouse it looked pretty rough with some ugly faux broken pearl looking grips, very dirty on the outside like some kind of film or crust, tight lockup and not much of a turn line. a few nicks ect. I could rub off some of the film / crust or what ever it was with my fingers so I asked them for the bestest price so for 6 Benjamin's OTD I said yes.Took her home and with some elbow grease, Mothers and Fritz and then added some nice grips I had I think I have a keeper. vdkjb.jpg afrg.jpg

You done good. Great looking revolver. Have you looked up the mfg date yet? Post all but the last two digits of the SN and I can look up the year for you. Do you know if it is a factory nickel job, or aftermarket? There should be a "N" stamped on the rear edge of the cylinder if it is factory nickel, but the extractor star should still be blue. From the S&W stamp on the side plate, it looks factory. I have a M19-3, blue with square butt and 4" barrel. Wonderful guns. Also have a M66-1, looks like your nickel gun but is stainless.

Thank you, Yeah it was made in 1972 and it is factory nickel

The thing is you rarely see a nickel version model 19 let alone a 2.5" one at least in resent time, I have seen a 4" and had a 6" a long time ago but never a snubby. It was tucked away back in the corner of the shelf under the counter at first I thought it was a model 66 then I saw the ticket and it said 19-3 and I thought wow but it was so badly taken care of with all the gunk on it.But as I looked further it wasn't that bad when I could remove the film./ crust with my finger and the nickel was in great shape. Those hideous yellowed broken fake pearl grips with someones initials on them make it look really bad. So I did take a sows ear and turn it into a pearl so to speak. I am guessing that's why the lower price and they just wanted to get rid of it. You just never know where you might find a gem hiding.

You found that at Sportsmans? Our Sportsmans won't touch used guns.
