Smith & Wesson .357 8-shot thoughts?

Smith has quite few N-frame offerings that are chambered for 8 rounds of 357/38. My gunsmith has a TRR8 which he adores, I haven't shot it but sure seems like a nice piece. I don't particularly care for the TRR8 or R8 variants as they appear a bit to far on the tacticool side of things, but there are some nice looking Performance Center 627 guns out there.

Anyone own and/or shot one of these and cares to share the experience, good or bad?

Thanks
If are going to have just one handgun that is very good one to have (top pick model R8). The grail though is 7-shot L-frame w/o lock and MIM components.

I like the TRR8, especially as it relates to home defense. The TRR8 was designed for law enforcement, specifically for lead penetraters of door entry teams. The top and bottom of the scandium shrouds can be used to mount red dot optics and laser lights.

Surprising as it is, the tactical rail 8-shot is being used in critical LE operations. Do a search on the TRR8 to read some interesting articles. :)

Ah yes, that would be this beauty. A 686-4, pre-MIM, pre-lock, 7-shot, and all business. My most accurate handgun at this time, by a safe margin. A pawnshop find no less.

If not MIM, what material and treatment are the matching trigger and hammer? I love the look when it all matches, but I don't think the trigger and hammer would be the elitist's "case hardened". ICBW.

Some of the early dash 4 models had flash chromed triggers and hammers I believe.

MIM doesn't bother me so much, just not keen on the lock.
