Smith & Wesson Equalizer 9mm vs. Sig P365 Stryker

I am debating between the above two 9mm as everyday carry. Sig is $300 more.

Plusses and minus's based on your experience?

I like the P365 because of it's modularity. I also like the manual safety, which is removable. There are less expensive version of both of them. Mine's a basic and an XL are both fairly plain and not that much.

It's definitely the more popular S&W micro-compact.

• Overall a smaller gun.
• They're very easy to conceal (I'll caveat that by saying that I have the single stack 2.0, but the double stack Plus is only 1/4" wider).
• More caliber choices.
• Striker fired.
• No grip safety.
• MSRP is $100 less than the Equalizer.

On the other hand:

• You're -2 on capacity from the Equalizer (13 + 1 vs. 15 + 1).
• Trigger safety dingus.
• They are not EZ. Don't know if that comes into play for you or not. S&W makes a Shield EZ, but it is a single stack.

Shield is also a very nice looking handgun compared to that Equalizer. Im not sure what Smith and Wesson is going for lately in the cosmetics department but they are putting out some ugly pistols compared to the past. Ive been fighting the urge to pick up a Shield plus myself lately. Looks is a personal preference though and I like streamlined pistols. Its pretty rare that people dont like the Shield and its one of S&Ws most successful pistols. Whatever potential problems they have were worked out a long time ago back in 2013-2014 from my memory.

Best thing the p365 has going for it is modularity. Ive shot the Shield and the p365 and both were fine (Shield was my favorite of the two). No shooting experience on the equalizer yet only handling and disassembly at my dealers shop to take a look at the internals. Everything looked good and the ergos were typical for S&W (Fantastic). If you like the aggressive look of those Equalizers its probably worth holding off on a purchase until you get a chance to shoot one. S&W is running some nice deals right now with free magazines as well. Lots of hype on the equalizer in the last year. I tend to ignore that stuff. The Shield is definitely as good as people make them out to be though.

My favorite p365 that I shot was the basic 380acp version. Have not rushed out to buy one yet though. Eventually I will pick one up.

I have a SIG P365X and a S&W Shield Plus and to me they're more similar to one another than they are different. Both guns are well designed and constructed, as is their size, weight, ergonomics, features and overall fit and finish. They have manual safeties though the SIGs is a little easier to put on and take off than the smaller one on the S&W. Sights are equal as far as I'm concerned while the SIG's trigger is as good as the S&Ws; being light, clean , with a short take-up, and quick reset. As far as cost is concerned the SIG was more money but well worth it while the S&W cost less but didn't skimp on anything with this particular gun!

To my way of thinking you can't go wrong with either one!

Shield 1.0 owner/lover here. That Shield Plus looks like it has a tumor or two. So lumpy . . .
