As soon as I heard that Colt was going to reintroduce the Python, I had a fire sale of some guns that were just collecting dust so I'd be ready when I saw one.
Yesterday was the day. I walk into the shop, do the usual "Hi, how's everyone" and so on, then say, "I'm just looking for a Python."
We got one of the new ones. OH?
Out comes the blue box and inside is about the prettiest gun I've ever seen. The finish just gleams like a mirror. It's got a 6" barrel, I'd prefer a 4", but the 6 looks and feels good. I can make an exception.
Out of the box it's got a great trigger. I knew just how good it was when I handed it to my wife who wouldn't know a good trigger, from the brake grip on her walker, and her eyes just went wide...WOW!
The fit, the finish, the lockup were all spot on. OK...the grips are sort of mundane, but they feel good and aren't ugly. They fit without a seam at all. They almost look like one piece of wood where they join.
I haven't fired it of course, but I have dry fired it a couple-three hundred times. Everything works just as it should.
Did I mention that it came home with me? I guess I didn't need to.
Price was right on the MSRP $1499.99. Yea, I could have waited and maybe saved some money, but on the other hand, I might not live that long. I ain't getting any younger.
