So close in getting an AR15 today...

Currently I have a Steyr AUG and a PS90 carbine. I just recently got a S&W M&P 15-22 carbine.. That kinda set me after lusting after an AR (a real one)... Also, it would be nice to have a 5.56 carbine that is lighter than my AUG (my full loaded AUG with my reflex sight and light weighs in at 10lbs).

What you should remember though is that the AUG will actually feel lighter when shouldered than a traditional carbine of equal or lesser weight because of the rearward weight distribution and corresponding leverage. I have an AUG A3 and a number of AR's and I prefer the AUG although my customized Colt 6720 ain't too far behind. Admittedly, i have been toying around the idea of fluting my AUG barrel like the MSAR.

I would never own six berettas to begin with but selling a few of these seems the obvious answer to me.

It's never about need. I don't NEED six handguns, this is true. And, I don't need an AR. But, I WANT one.

But, I went to a lot of trouble gathering those Berettas - all with night sights. I have two shooters/heavy use ones. I plan to give one to my son when he gets older. And, I want at least a spare. So yea, I could live with 4. And, that's sorta what I considered. But for now, will hold onto the other 2. Maybe if I save up the difference, I'll consider selling those 2 and look at this again

Well its usually never about need, but want. :D

It seems you want the AR but have to sell at least 2 of your other guns to fund it. Its really up to you.

Just another thing to consider is that now is a very good time to buy AR15's again since the market is flooded with them and prices are affordable. I have seen the Colt6920 at Walmart for $1097 which is the base model that you should buy with a DI AR.

I've also seen piston AR's (LMT, Sig, LWRC) starting at $1500+.
