Being the first male in the family ever to even HOLD a gun, I suppose that I've been relatively successful from turning them from "complete anti" to "we'll come shooting with you, when we're good and ready".

Unfortunately, my sister (the most against guns and lives on her own) took a joke the wrong way today when she and my mom were joking of finding me a girlfriend, to which I replied, "Will she provide me with cover fire while I'm reloading?" (apologies to whoever coined this... I think it was Tamara :)) She immediately went on about how the joke was tasteless, etc., before walking out. Mom was still laughing, however, so it wasn't a complete loss. :neener:

I'm so close to getting the parents into shooting... what can I do to just nudge them over to take the plunge into coming to the range with me, instead of having them make excuses?

Buy them a gun? :D

Seriously - think about it. If you buy them a .22, or something like that, with no recoil to speak of, they'll HAVE to come to the range to try out your gift, won't they?

Preacher: I actually did buy a .22 Buckmark for this purpose, but here in Canada, they can't actually "own" the gun as the gun is registered to my name, so they were quick to dismiss the purchase as a self-serving one. :(

Preacherman is on to something good, so are You Bokchoi.
Make them aware of the current ownership rules in Canada if You have'nt already. If they do want it, can You have it transfered over to them once they go through the legal requirements?
