I predict that we'll end up calling ourselves THRers just as we called ourselves TFLers since they're equally unpronouncable.

Some things are for reading, and others are for saying. Never heard anybody speak shorthand so I have no idea what the squiggles of it sound like. :)

You mean you never actually uttered "Tee-eff-eller" out loud? It was ever so much more mellifluous than "Tee-aitch-arrerr"... Hence "High Roader" for me. ;)

I asked Oleg where he came up with the name.
Oleg said, Rich(from the TFL) told him to 'take the high road' when dealing with the anti's.
Sounds great to me!:)

I apologize to the Gullwing drivers, as in 300SL and SLR's. In my haste to pick on Honda scooters, I overlooked that.
In the future I will endevor to "Take The High Road".

If you want "High Roader" to stick, put it in your sig line and it'll catch.

And at our meets we'll quaff a pint of guiness and sing "Oh, you take the High Road and I'll take the low road..."

For you trivia buffs out there: The high road and low road refer to two Scottsmen who were captured during the Jacobite Rebellion. One was to be executed, and the other set free. At that time, it was believed that if a Scottsman died away from his homeland, his soul would travel back to Scottland underground. That was the "low road".

Much better to be on the High Road.

I like our new name!

While I'm going to miss TFL, I actually like being a "High Roader." Years ago when my first marriage ended, my ex-wife tried her best to turn our children against me. One buddy, who had been there, done that, gave me the advice to "Take the high road," (his exact words.)

I took his advice and didn't play her petty games nor have I ever uttered an ill against her. The result: Today I have to bribe my kids to give their mother a Mother's Day gift. Her "low road" tactics backfired and she hurt herself more than I could have ever done if I had wanted to...which I didn't.

The High Road is the only road to take. Glad I'm on it!

I can live with being called a 'High Roaded'.

Been called worse. :(

Going on two years now and it looks to me like your prediction is true. I've seen THRer(s) and THR'er(s) a lot more than I have seen "High Roaders."

I was one of those whom came to THR from TFL.
TFL has since re-opened , and I visit both THR /TFL .

I am referred to as "Family", be it here on THR or TFL.

Of course when some folks from a anti- gun "site" got a hold of my email addy - I was called "one of them" ...some other names that Art's Grammaw won't let me type.

I took the HighRoad in my handling of situation. I'd be lying if the thought of targets from a Firing Line didn't cross my mind tho'. ;)

I got a good chuckle when someone at DU referred to us as "High Roadragers".

 Unsurprised. Seriously, why even bother having a discussion forum if everyone's supposed to have identical political beliefs?

The wife refers to us as "those hoodlums you're always checking with." Nicest bunch of hoodlums I've ever been a part of, not that that's saying much...

Hmmmm...

I never noticed until just this second that my condensed signature's initials could also be construed to stand for High_Road_Guy.

Not that I would adopt such a title. Feels sorta...Pretentious? Disingenuous? Something like that. I'd want to ask if it's OK with everyone, and I'd STILL get embarrassed about it. Buhlieve Ah'll let thet sleepin' dawg lie.

Now as to a reference name for fellow forum members, I always use the same thing, which has never caught on with anyone else despite my best efforts to smear it all over creation in the forum:

We're HighRiders.

It's something to be proud of.
