So uhh.... how kool aid proof are bullets?

Yep... You read that correctly. After cleaning my home defense pistol last night, I slipped and dropped the magazine...... right into my orange kool aid. Felt stupid for dropping it.. felt stupider when it landed in my drink

I'm over it now, but What should I do with the rounds that got covered?

I pretty much decided to shoot em all off first chance I get just to be safe.

So how water/kool aid proof are most bullets?

File-13 the rounds and replace with fresh. You don't want any questions about your defensive ammo.

flush your mag good too, koolaid is very acidic, you sure don't want it migrating into your gun

Wash mag and rounds thoroughly to remove sticky residue. Use rounds for target practice. Refill mag with fresh rounds. Not to worry. Kool-aided round will almost certainly perform without fail. But almost isn't good enough for carry.

My dentist used to scare me out of drinking soda by telling me that if I dropped a coin in a glass of Coke, it would corrode.

Not sure if it was, but I'm imagining that Kool-Aid aren't good for them? I'd be more worried about the mags.

It will. I have personally seen that a 16-penny nail in a glass of Coke (changed daily, remnants filtered thru chemical strainer and put in glass again) after 5 days will be completely GONE. Completely EATEN.

No I am not a dentist. My grandfather was though. And I still drink Coke.

Polymer mags, only worried about the spring. And I did thoroughly clean everything and replace the rounds anywho. Glad I still had 1/3 a box left.

About the bullets. They are probably fine. So rinse em, dry em well, shoot them off as soon as practicable. Use non-dunked ones for carry, just for peace of mind.

That site is bull, at least on the nail aspect. I have witnessed the nail-eating, and it happens. BTW, the nail was galvanized. That is why it took an extra day to do it.

Not every urban myth is false.
Lets make my post gun related. I wonder how long a gun would take to dissolve, with bullets, if the coke was changed every day. What reaction would the powder have with the acid? (I am obviously not a Chem major with the answer)

A guy that works for me is retired Navy and he told me that they used Kool-Aid and a scrub brush to clean the oil tanks in one of the ships he was on. Apparently this tank held dirty oil until such a time as they could dump it.

I've seen the nail in the Coke can thing done in high school science class. Pretty cool...all of use wondered what the stuff would do to braces

Make sure you use a glass beaker to do that with, and use a filter (a 4 coffee filters should do fine.) It is done by filtering the remnants after 24 hours, then a new coke is used.

Yep, I have seen the Navy cool-aid powder (bug juice) clean the he!! out of brass drains and fittings.. We mixed it to real high concentrations, and let the parts soak.. A quick wire brush and rinse, and they shined... Just the ticket for an OS 'zone inspection'...

As to your rounds... I'd round-file them also, you don't want sticky bug juice in your weapon...

edit: The magazine should be fine after a teardown, rinse & THOROUGH drying.. Use HOT water, it'll evaporate quicker...
