So, what can i load with my .309s?

30-06
7.62x39

I don’t see why not. The x39 might fit a bit loose but that what guys were shooting back when they couldn’t get .311 bullets. 170gr is a bit heavy for caliber but a good slow burning powder would make it work at at least subsonic speeds.
the 30.06 would eat them up. I’d not send them above 1900fps but they’ll shoot

I’d try working up a load for the x39 using Unique Which isn’t a slow burning powder, I know.
Start with a light 30-30 load. 7 gr? Case capacity is your friend AND enemy with unique.
these words are treading in a territory where I don’t have personal experience with the x39 but I have used unique to sling 170gr gas checked bullets in a 308 bore.
due diligence on your part would make me feel better, please.

You may need to pc your projectiles to use them in x39 depending on the size of your individual rifle bore, but with light loads you can use them in virtually any 30 cal. Speed limits for good bore fit cater to the 30-30 size cases, but downloaded 308 and 30-06 will work too. Sounds like a fun mold, and I'd definitely try them in 7.62x39 also, especially in your Ruger.

I shot that same basic bullet just this week in my .308 Savage 99 lever-gun. Great bullet! I bought those bullets for the .30-30, but they work swimmingly in the .308... even though my Savage can take pointy bullets (because of the rotary magazine.)
I bought the mold tofeed my 30-30, but I don't see why it won't work just fine for mild 30-06 loads.....and I may do a bit of research on the 7.62x39

The bullet weight is right for the .30-06, but I've never tried them there... the only .30-06 I have is a Garand. I would probably reach for the 4198's or AA5744, that big case might be a little tricky, but I think the 4198's would work well enough. I've used it in the cavernous case of the .348 before, with good results, so it doesn't appear to have issues with position in lower case fill.

308, 30-06, 30-40, 7.62 Russian, 300 Blackout, loose for 7.7 and 303, 300 Savage.
I've used it in most of these.

I think the Lyman books had some 165-170gr data for the x39. Shouldn't be any problems, they may not feed the best being fn. Check coal but should have room not like that mold is a bore rider. What do they weigh ready to shoot.

If you powdercoat it will upsize the raw dropped diameter. The increase in antimony will also give you a larger diameter due to less shrinkage. Your antimony content works two fold for you here as you also get a harder bullet more fit for higher speeds.sizing the same bullet at .311 or .312 can make it more versatile in the bigger bores. I like .310 in 30-30. Apparently Lee has changed to inserts like noe so you can have more sizing bushings cheaper now... I have the Lee old style and jumped to noe. I still use the Lee when I don't have the noe bushing.... still getting all the ones I need.

I have a LEE .309 170GR FLAT POINT bullet mold. I have cast more than 100 bullets, sized and applied gas checks, and tumble lubed them.
I have loaded them in my 30-30s.
What else can I use them in?
Well just talk about plinkers and targets.
I'm curious......what else can I use them in?
.30-40Krag. They’re dandy for anything the size of a whitetail.

I don't recall from my crappy memory...
I'll need to scale a few and get back. NJ
In your 30-06, 13.0 gr. of Red Dot with just about any cast .30 caliber gas checked bullet will work and work well.

35W
Great
I have red dot.
Thanks

300 Blackout, while would probably be tough to get an AR to cycle and stay subsonic, supers would be easy enough.
With my Ruger American Ranch I use Unique with slightly heavier bullets and it's stupid quiet suppressed.
Even unsuppressed it's quieter than a 22 rifle.

I do the same with heavy cast in 350 legend.

They will work fine in a .30-06, .308 Win. and about any .30 caliber rifle. I shot thousands of them in my '03 target rifle. One thing to remember when shooting and testing cast bullets: Do NOT shoot them after jacketed bullets, doing so can make a big difference in accuracy of cast bullets. So start your cast bullet shooting sessions with a clean barrel.

I could see that working very well, I basically just use my Legend for launching cheap 9mm jacketed bullets since I have it bracketed for subs by the Blackout and a 450 Bushmaster

I have a dedicated 350 bolt for beaver hunting. I need high accuracy out to 50 yards and enough power and penetration to split their heavy skulls. The factory FMJ actually has a useful flat point and work well, but it is noisy for stealthy after dark hunting. I have worked up loads with cast in 170 and 200 grain flavors, and just cast some 255 grain slugs that have a massive meplat. The 200s were still a bit over the speed of sound, so I am hoping I can sling the 255s under the speed of sound with good accuracy. That much lead does not need to go real fast to split wigs at short distances.

Pretend cast bullets dont have a ballistic coefficient. As long as they feed and you keep the velocity reasonable they should work anywhere a similar weight jacketed will work with the exception of semi autos as they likely won’t cycle.
