This is the Colt King Cobra Target .22, I picked up in early January of this year. To date it's been 100% reliable and superbly accurate. But after 200+ rounds I just wasn't happy with the fiber optic front sight nor the Colt supplied rear. The first for its lack of precision in slow fire, and the 2nd for the set screw operation to lock the windage.

I elected to get the Wilson Combat replacement sights for the Cobra and like them a lot. Installation was easy for the front, but the rear required some judicious use of a fine cut jeweler's file, and a bit of jiggling to get the pivot pin re-installed.

In use, I really like the gold dot front sight. It's visible in most any daylight and the flat face does not induce windage nor elevation problems with slanting hard sunlight. Too, it's very usable for straight up target use, allowing a good level "post top with the rear sight ear's" hold. Here's a side/rear angle shot of both sights. The Wilson rear extends back from the frame a bit more than the Colt original, you may note.

The size difference if any between the KC and the Diamondback isn't evident in the shooting hand. The real difference is the superb DA trigger pull on the KC. Colt has finally figured out how to do it! The SA triggers on both are comparable, and about the same as my M-18 Smith, and that's saying something.

This 2rd pic has my .22 Colt revolvers on the left with the Smith models 63 & 18 on the right. Up until I bought the King Cobra Target .22, that M-18 Smith was my most accurate .22, equaling the M-41 I've had since the early '80's.

This last one is the King Cobra with the holster I made up for it. Easy riding, OWB of course, and snug enough to allow carry without a keeper strap. And yep, you guessed right that the grips are Altamonts, well finished and just enough for a full, pinkie on wood hold...Best Regards, Rod

Night: You bet, I had the Diamondback out this afternoon but even the SA trigger just didn't perform as well. Accuracy too, was not as good, offhand so the trigger difference surely made a difference. The DA wasn't even close. Rod

The Colt King Cobra Target 22 has turned out to be a superb revolver. I liked my first one so much I bought a 2'nd and I'm eagerly awaiting their upcoming release of the 3" version. As for the rear sight I agree the Wilson Combat sight is vastly superior to the factory version. I have put WC sights on my Pythons and Anacondas but not my KCT yet. Here's the KCT in action. https://youtu.be/YgMEZOY6FHY?si=ze-07q3FdvL7oyfU

Fantastic holster, that's a beautiful piece of leatherwork.

The only .22 revolver I have is a S&W M48-4, .22MRF. Pretty accurate, and loud as heck. My only other .22 rimfire handguns are my M41 and Hunter MkIII. No nice leather for them, though.

Thanks for the compliment, Bang, that's a trio of lovelies you've posted with some great accuracy potential.

BTW, we had a cabin 1/4 mile from the powerhouse put-in on the Nantahala, over by Andrews....Great fly fishing up stream from there but the state broke my heart when they started the dam releases for the white water kayak crowd/outfitters. Three of those in that first summer destroyed the insect life from the dam to the powerhouse....Used to fish the stretch at the footbridge by the powerhouse and killed a quartet of copperheads right there over the years. Regards, Rod

I have the KCT in 357 myself. The Wilson sight is the way to go, although I just put the rear on.
I was seriously considering one in 22, but I came across this Diamondback not long ago and that put the kabash on that. 20240130_204524.jpg

Love it all! The KCT is an EXCELLENT revolver! Mine’s more accurate than my old diamondback, too.I ordered a Kensight Elliason rear for it, instead of the Wilson I have on my Pythons and Anaconda; it should be here tomorrow. Totally agree that Colt is getting it right these days. Here’s mine at 25 yards, offhand:

Off a bench, it’s a 1” gun even with crappy bulk ammo. I DO wish I could find some full-size wood grips for it. It’s rival is a pre-18 S&W 4” some where around here. Oh yeah, here it is:
