So I'm a surprised winning bidder (apparently the seller can waive the reserve?) of a Uberti Remington 8" Target revolver. I thought I was filling a hole in my list of the current production Uberti C&B revolvers, but this turned out to be much older than I expected. The date code is 1983 and the top of the barrel is marked "A. UBERTI & C. GARDONE V.T.ITALY". So...

What is the timeframe for the Gardone marking and is there anything special/interesting regarding that?

The finish is distinctly "blue" as opposed to all my other Uberti's which are much, much darker, almost black. Is this normal for this time period?

Considering it appears to be unfired and the only markings seem to be a little scraping around the cylinder like you'd expect from someone indexing the revolver once in awhile over almost 30 years...did I over pay at $190 delivered?

My gut feeling is that there isn't any particular significance to the Gardone marking, not any more than providing the context for the proof mark and which I believe is common.
I don't know how blue your blue is or how common it was. Maybe it wasn't a common production finish that was widely available.
But this is the first that I've heard of a special blue finish being produced back then. Even though they offer a fire or charcoal blue finish now, I have no idea if it's the same as the current "fire blue" that's offered which some folks like and some don't for various reasons.

A picture would be worth a 1000 words, but I don't get the feeling that you overpaid for the revolver at all.
Shoot it and/or fondle it, but most of all enjoy it, even if only simply for the pleasure that it brings to appreciate its beauty & workmanship! :)
