I was my local Barnes & Noble book store yesterday looking for a new book to read. After I found what I was looking for I walked through the Magazine section. About six months ago I was in the same magazine section looking for a particular gun mag. I couldn't find any gun magazines at first and only after some serious searching I found a small selection of 4 different ones stuffed in the back of the bottom shelf.

Yesterday as I walk through the magazine section I see a plethora of gun mags prominately displayed in a prime location. The only reason I noticed is that one of the front magazines had a nice picture of an M4A3 with a Beta C-mag, Aimpoint and all kinds of other goodies. :what: I was SHOCKED to say the least. Of course I had to start purusing and counted 24 different gun magazine selections. Nice!

About time I say. Of course I ended up leaving the store with a book and several magazines. :D

At the B&N here, the gun mags get picked over pretty quickly. Are you sure you didn't catch them the first time after they had been purchased and the second time right after stocking? I've done both several times.

They're not a bad store at all. Some years ago, I found a copy of Unintended Consequences on the shelf at a local B&N store. I bought it.

Note that if you use a Discover card to buy on-line at their website, you get free delivery on orders over $35, a 7% rebate, and (in most states) don't get nicked for sales tax.

Hummmm, maybe I did look the first time after it was picked over, but I wouldn't think they would migrate from top shelf to back bottom shelf like that.

Oh and I changed the title to be more "gramatically correct". Is that anything like "politically correct"? :scrutiny:

No problem finding just about anything an BN. One of my favorite stores. Left-wing, right-wing, no-win, thry got it. Plus, I love their bargain book section. Especially when they release the version old computer books :D

They are the ones responsible for getting me hooked on Shotgun News.

I've purchased several books about firearms and ammo from the local B&N, to include Supica's S&W catalog.

Maybe it's because I live in a college town...

The Barnes and Noble and the Borders here have a terrible selection of firearms books and magazines. At most they might have 5 to 10 books on hunting or firearms collecting (nothing on self-defense or sport shooting) and a few hunting magazines. If I want anything I have to either mail-order or buy it when I go up to the range in Indianapolis...

B&N is awesome compared to Borders. I haven't been in a Borders for a while since I read somewhere that they gave $ to some anti group.

I was in a Borders in Mesa a little while ago and could not find a single gun rag. Plenty of magazines on how to grow, sell, and smoke marijuana though :scrutiny: .

Even the Berkeley B&N has a good selection, if you're quick enough. They even have Shotgun News and the Gunlist. The Borders doesn't even have a hunting section, so far as I could find, much less any gun magazines.

He's right--you have to decide which gun you're more interested in :p . I've never had a problem looking at/through the various firearm magazines at B&N, and there's always plenty of 'em. But there's also numerous B&N's around where I live, so it's never been an issue.

I hate to nit-pick grammar, but your title should have been "something must have changed" not "something must of changed".

Well, since you are nit-picking.... "something must have changed" is indeed correct, as you pointed out, but "...must of changed" is most certainly incorrect grammar/diction. :)

I was at a Barnes & Noble yesterday.

I wrote a check for my purchases. The self-inflicted genius behind the counter demanded to see my driver's license. I explained the number is printed on my check. She still wanted to see my driver's license. I asked whether she thought I'm a thief. She said no, it's actually for my own protection. I told her in plain English, "That's a lie."

She looked just awfully hurt.

She rang up the sale, and asked whether I wanted the receipt in the bag or in hand.

That particular store does, indeed, carry shooting magazines; its customer "service," however, is so antagonistic that I generally driver miles farther to patronize a book shop where I'm not treated as a criminal.

Grammar Watchdog

Hey Lone_Gunman,

Read the post heading with the thought of colloquial vernacular. Yes, good grammar should be universal, but save the red marker for the classroom to, uh two, oh yeah too. :D

Some B&N's that I've occasioned have not had the best of selections regarding firearms publications. Those that I frequent have decent selections and when they have reduced such, a conversation with the manager has corrected their oversight. Be polite when doing so.

B&N is a retail business--they stock what sells. Even in NY and CA they sell gun-related magazines and books. I got the book Winchester: An American Legend from their sale table for $14.99--it was the last copy left. It's a great color-illustrated history of Winchester firearms.

In the NOrtheast B&N stores are hit or miss for gun magazines and books. Usually Borders has them beat for that sort of thing.

Actually, I would have to agree with that policy since it does verify if you are actually that person writing the check (your checkbook may be stolen, which would give the account holder valid reason for contesting the check). I suggest that you remove your license number the checks. The less information on the check, the better for you.
