I know this is kind of hard to get across with only words, but I'll give it a shot.
Just about finish with my first build from the ground up, got all the components fitted together good, the fire control, safety are working fine, slide to frame are a snug fit, barrel to slide locks up good. But here is the problem, when attempting to rack the slide, the slide would move about a quarter of an inch rearward then the slide would get stuck like something is preventing the barrel to link down fully but when I push down just a hair on the chamber from the ejection port the barrel will go down just a bit enough for the slide to freely move all the way to the rear.

Now guys, I'm not new to the 1911 format but this snag is preventing me to go ahead and complete my project, so any and all help, tips or violent reactions will be greatly appreciated. :D

Thanks

Cock the hammer.

See that the ejector fits.

Lightly stone the disconnector.

Pull/push harder.

You need at least one size shorter barrel link.

The one you have is too long to pull the barrel down far enough to unlock it from the slide.

Thank you guys for the quick replies. I apologize for not including some other info such as:
1) Already tried it w/o the link, w/o spring, it's a no go.
2) Already tried it w/ another barrel, works fine w/o any issues
3) Notice that the barrel lug (farthest from the chamber) got the blued rub off starting from the corner (near the muzzle)

Will re-check the hood -to- breech face contact, it got a hair size gap when looking at the slide up side down(w/ lighted background) but when using a pen marker at the end of the hood, there is some rubbing off.

Really appreciates the tips, I still believe there are helpful brothers in the 1911 community

Will keep you guys posted:D

O.K.
You may need to take some metal off the bottom of the barrel right behind the cam. Or off the cam lug face where it contacts the frame on the back.

Put the barrel on the frame with the slide stop through the link and pull the barrel back hard. (Full link-down)

Now see if the barrel is able to make full contact with the frame bed just below the feed ramp.

If it is hitting the frame before full link-down & frame bed contact can occur, it is not able to drop far enough to get the locking lugs out of the slide.

DO NOT modify the frame bed in any way!

Good news..

Well, got some good and bad news, good news is that I solve the problem, all I needed was a shorter link, bad news was it set me back about $9.50 to get a new link(Ok, I'm not in the US)

Thanks again to those who pitch in to help.
