Just two minutes from sanity.
I got something from my brother yesterday. It was my NAA Guardian that I purchased around 1999-ish. At some point within a year or two of purchase, my dad (who was county sheriff) "borrowed" it as a compact piece to wear to political events. Basically, a symbolic gun, you might say.
I forgot about it pretty quickly and he used it through 3 terms as sheriff. Towards the middle of his last term, his health really failed. He went into complete retirement after just shy of 50 years in LE. He gave me one of his service pistols and my brother the other and sold all his other guns. Turns out he kept the .32.
His last year or two was very bad. My brother moved both parents twice to put the old man in appropriate care. We buried him in January. My brother found the pistol in dad's personal effects somewhere along the line and put it in storage. He gave it to me this week.
Somewhere along the line the box, paperwork and extra magazine disappeared. Somewhere along the line the old man bought a little synthetic paddle holster for it, a fobus I think.
It's bone dry and has some firing residue on it, but otherwise looks much like the last time I saw it. I'd forgotten how nice these little guns are.
Believe I will lube it, load it, and carry it in that ugly little holster today in the old man's honor.

Thanks for the share. My condolences for your loss.

Now that you got the little gem back, how about oiling it back up and taking it for a test ride. And give us all a range report. I like NAA as a company even if I haven't bought any of their products. After finally taking a chance on Kel-Tec P3AT I'm willing to give the little .32 by NAA a chance.

I'd always thought I'd just carry a snub nose .357 but after putting 200 rounds through the P3AT and seeing I could easily do double tap head shots at seven yards. It's definetly earned it's place as a BUG.

So now tell us how that little .32 handles. Thanks.

Took it to the range this afternoon. I remember now why I liked this gun so much way back then. It is a great little gun. Quick double tap headshots are easy. I owned a p32 for years, and although it was a few ounces lighter, it never felt as good to me. The NAA's fixed barrel offers better accuracy, too, though at pocket gun range that scarcely matters.
I'm happy to have it back, though I wish the old man was still alive, well and treating it as just a sign of office.

Sorry to hear of your lost and I would love to have my Dad back as well. Good to hear you have something to remember him by in the form of your old NAA Guardian. I have my Dad's .22 single shot rifle and it's a great way for me to reconnect with my Dad every time I have it out.

Just today, I got back a gun I never thought I'd see again. I related the whole story in its own thread, but I got back my step dads Remington model 10, which belonged to his grandfather, who purchased it new back in the late 1920s. This gun has now passed through the hands of three generations of great veterans. Four if you include me. WWI, WWII, Vietnam and Iraq. While its only a wall hanger from now on, I hope one day it'll have a spot on the wall of one of my great grand children.
