I have been steady buying at Cabela's both primers and powders at regular retail prices yesterday $36.99/1,000. Say what you want about the place but they have been trying hard to control the ammo from the scalper/reseller bunch and have not been GOUGING their customers. I have been told by multiple sources that are reliable to expect a 15% to 20% increase in price coming down the way.

I’m going with a hard number. 20% over is overpay

if they could make money in 2019... they can in 2021
Seen the price of gas, lately? How about overland diesel (vs. farm diesel)? At what point do you stop buying gas "on principle"?

AGREE! Cabelas has been constantly RETAIL in price!

not dealing with Midway or PSA or BCA anymore

I'm not out, probably good for a couple years but I'm still willing to pay $60/1000 without a second thought. I'm pretty sure prices will come down from the insane levels they are at now but I seriously doubt we'll ever see normal prices of $25-$30/1000 again. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the "new normal" price after this all plays out settles at $60 or more. I hope I'm wrong.

Shoulda put back all the money we saved paying $2 a gallon for gas last year. That would have more than covered the price increase of primers. Now that gas (and everything else) is going up by double digit percentages, $50+ for a brick of primers is chump change.

Inflation has always been a thing. Way bigger thing now.
I keep looking at all of the locally-sourced, no-hormone or antibiotic beef and lamb cryowrapped in my big freezers with <$2/lb price stickers on them, pork and chicken with <$1/lb stickers, thinking, "Glad I didn't use that money to buy primers."

It's not just about hunting or "sports," it's about living a good life and enjoying it. Getting anxious and ticked off over a hobby kind of ruins that for me. YMMV.

Now, would I be very sad if I ran slap out of ammo and couldn't afford more post-retirement? Sure! But I'd be even more sad if the US became the kind of country where even thinking about owning the means of self-defense was a thought-crime.

Wait until the EPA starts shutting down refineries for minor violations as part of their "war on carbon.*" You'll be lucky to afford enough gas to drive to the range.

*Last I knew, all life on planet Earth is carbon-based so isn't this whole war on carbon kind of like murder-suicide? Just askin'...

48lbs of powder and primers... I need more local reloader friends to split the pallet!
No pallet; 48# is 3 cases of 8# jugs (2xcase). That said, last I saw, the limit was 4-8# jugs and 1-2 sleeves of primers (@5K per sleeve) for one hazmat fee. Just bought 8# of Titewad from Midway, hazmat was $12.69

If you're paying more than 19cents a gallon for gas, you're supporting price gougers!
Eggs shouldn't be more than 10cents a dozen, either! And more than A DOLLAR A GALLON FOR MILK!!!???? Insanity! Don't pay it!

If ya'll think I'm being sarcastic, ask an old(er) person how much they used to pay for all them things. I remember going through the grocery store and thinking 15 cents a pound for chicken was just wrong.
I remember when the grocery store would double paper bag and fill it up and I kept track; if it ran more than $15/bag something was wrong - that included meats, veggies and other household stuff back in the 80s when I was raising a family. Then again, my Renault got 47 miles to the gallon and a tank a week cost me $13

I wish I had one close enough to me to stop regularly. I would order online and have them shipped to the store but they stopped that.
