Some tranisitional phase my therapist keeps talkin
I need to break some bad habits and pick up some skills and I need beaucoup ammo to do it. Thought about reloading but...it's 9mm... on a single stage press. The thought doesn't inspire me.

I don't care about match grade accuracy or dirt. Like to stay form Wolf ammo... too many horror stories. Lead might be a no-no...gun's a H&K USP9. Just need to make some recoil, smoke and flash.

So...who's your dealer?

TIA,
S.

Wal-Mart 100 round value pack of Winchester USA 9mm. $10.96 per 100 round box

Blaser 9mm (Various retailers) as low as $3.88 per 50 round box.

Another vote for Win USA Value Pack ammo.

I've used it in numerous 9mm pistols and have never had a serious problem. Aside from one smashed round..looks like it got messed up in the final polish, I have never had a had round in a couple thousand.

If you go the Blaser route, try a box or two first and see how your pistol likes it before purchasing a case. I've had 9mms that did not like the stuff at all.

Good Shooting

Wally world. The blazer works if you can find it, but noone here carries it unless they're overcharging.

my friend got a 1000rd case of greek olympic ammo from ammoman.com. $119 for 1000 rds, free shipping. They're selling it in 1000, 2000, and 10,000 rd lots with a decent discout for the more you buy. Gone through a good portion of the case without fail. It's not very dirty. accurate. Good stuff as far as we can tell. Seems they just have an abundance of it and want it gone.

Matter of fact IM heading there now to pick up a few boxes. :neener:

I don't have a wal mart anywhere near me. There's a k-mart that barely sells rifle and shotgun ammo, needless to say no pistol ammo. :(

I've never known an HK USP to be a finicky feeder, my friend's 9c shot everything it was ever fed, including Blazer; my Sig P228 loves Blazer ammo, but I can't buy it anywhere near here at $3.88 a box; at that price, I'd be shooting it until I was ankle deep in aluminum hulls!

I've looked for the wal-Mart value packs in the Laurel store and no luck. The best recent deal was the Bass Pro shops Winchester at $3.8x a box.

The Olympic from Ammoman works fine in all of my nine's and is usually the least expensive reliable source I've found in this area.

Last Descember Georgia Arms had a special - no shipping charge, which made their price at least $10 lower than Ammoman's per thousand - plus you got an ammo can.

Most of the above deals were announced on THR/TFL or some other forum.

Bottom line for me is to find a special and stock up.

Around here you can't beat the Wal Mart bulk packed Winchester. Bass Pro has also had some great deals, but we don't have one. IMHO Blazer sucks in any caliber. Watch-Six

Look for an Academy Sports. Round here they always sell it for less than $5 a box and down to $3.88 on sale.

I've been buying reloads from Miwall at the local gun shows. The stuff has been pretty good, very few problems. I can buy 1000 rnds for $85. They also sell Winchester value packs through their website.

From silver spring you can get to the Wally world on Laurel in about fiftenn minutes (New Hamster Ave side). Just don't talk to the bald cranky guy or you'll want to use the ammo on him. The Wally world in Bowie carries both UMC and WWB. I've also found MasterCast reloads aren't to bad though I would prefer a 124gr bullet. Geco is also good if you can get it.

echo3mike, what are your bad habits that you need to break? Just blasting away at the range will merely ingrain more bad habits. If you read about shooting technique or take a class, then do lots of dry firing, you can fix a lot of problems. You can find great free advice on www.brianenos.com, www.mattburkett.com, the Tactics & Training section of www.glocktalk.com, and the Shooting Techniques section of www.glockfaq.com. $20 spent on Brian Enos's book Practical Shooting: The Fundamentals will improve your shooting far more than $20 worth of ammo.

After accomplishing some goals with my rifle shooting I wanted to get more involved with my handgun and shoot some IDPA / IPSC matches. I haven't really worked on this for a couple of years and I seem to be blinking when the shot breaks in response to either the blast or the recoil and it's effecting my ability to call my shots and track my sights.

After reading Enos' book (an excellent work on practical shooting and sports performance) and finding some problem areas (now eliminated) dry firing I felt shooting off a bench to be the best method for working on my technique and (hopefully) increase my ability to call my shots. I was able to eliminate any blinking and nailed my shot calling for the rifle off a bench, and cancelling any other variables with the handgun off a bench seems to be have potential.

I've never been much of a banger, but I am going to need a decent supply of ammo to accomplish these goals and see me through to the next series of goals... or at least not worry about having to pick up some ammo on the way to the range.

As an added bonus, I'm hoping this will help me convince Mrs. echo3mike that a new progressive press will be an economically sound alternative to bulk ammo purchases.
