I use Hogdon clays exclusively in my 40s. All of my suppliers are out. Does anyone here have a source where I can find some?

Should be available by year's end; hasn't been available for a few years. Other "Clays" versions are starting to appear. (Universal and International). Otherwise, you can try Claydot from Alliant - same formulas, different densities.

I have two somewhat local shops (2 hr drive) that seem to have Clays quite frequently since the employees shoot .45 acp. Unfortunately neither one of them ships. :(

Alliant "Claydot"

Try Alliant Claydot as a substitute for Hodgdon Clays. Do it by weight as others have said as the density is slightly different.I have used Claydot for years and can find no difference weight for weight. I have used it in 9,40,38 SPL, and to a lesser extent in 45 ACP. It seems to be just as clean as Clays and is a tad bit cheaper.

Clays has been showing up occasionally, but not in volume. One or two of the local shops have had some 1-lbers of it in small quantities. Universal and Intl' have been a little more available, but still just in 1 lb containers. I've got about 4 lbs of Clays that should last me through the end of the year for 12 ga. If I pick up a 45 ACP, which may happen, it will probably go faster than that.

Sure wish you pistoleros would leave my shotgun powder alone! :p
Hard enough finding it, let alone in the 8# jugs any more...........

You should get some Extra Lite or e3.

Oh yeah, Alliant isn't producing enough of that stuff either!

They are wasting all their production capacity pushing BE-86 on everybody.

I'd be happy if they produced more Unique, Red Dot and Bullseye. I'm set on Red Dot for the rest of the year for shotshell, but down to my last 2# of Unique.

Yup. It is showing up in 1lb (well actually less than a lb). It has been shipping in from Austrailia since December and being packaged by Hodgdon in Kansas.

It is my favorite shotgun and pistol powder. For now I am using 700X and using up 800x for shotgun loads.

BTW 700x, Red Dot, Power Pistol all good powders.

It's Alliant's fault! They released Promo and suggested we use Red Dot load data by weight. Well, we use Red Dot for pistol loads and ... BINGO! ;)

Thank goodness Alliant released BE-86 or us reloaders would be buying up all the Promo we can get our hands on. :D

LOL! Promo is a great powder! I like American Select as well...

Still use Unique for most of my shotgun loads though! I use most of the shotgun powders for my handgun loads (guilty as charged).
