Hi Indie,
I tried to get Shooters Choice on Sunset to do a transfer awhile back and was told that they did not do that anymore. They don't seem to care that much about their customers anyway - including the steambox they call a range. Right around the corner on 12th street there is a pawn shop named "Big Johns." The owner is John Elias and he is one of the nicest guys around. I had him do two transfers for me (internet purchases from dealers) so far and have nothing but good things to say.
He is at 614 12th street. If I remember right, he charges $25. for the transfer and background check. Let me know how it works out.
Also, if you have found any other ranges besides Shooters Choice, let me know.

Best Deal Pawn and Gun on Two Notch near Columbia Mall has been real good to me. I can forward you his FFL (high res. copy, or just give them a call and he will do it for you.) He's about $20, but he did give me a discount one time because "It's a real pretty gun!" (Uberty 1866 Yellowboy.)

Woody99, All i know of is the mid carolina rifle club and shooters choice, but im pretty new to shooting. Thanks for the heads up on Big Johns as well. I live very close to shooters choice so thats the range I use. Its a 4-5 minute drive from my front door.

I called shooters choice about an hour ago and they refered me to someone, but he charges $25 for the transfer and $10 extra for the background check.

I also called a guy who is nearby named Robert of RMA firearms who is charging $20. He was a really nice guy on the phone and seems very helpfull. I am going to use him for the transfer.

ScottsGT, thanks alot for the tip on Best Deal as well.

Best Deal is the one I use - they're actually somewhat south of the mall beside Columbia Powersports. Very good to work with.

If you're spending much time at Shooter's range, you may want to look into Mid-Carolina Rifle Club - @8 hours of shooting time at Shooter's ($6/half hour isn't it?)will pay for a year's membership at Mid-Carolina. Just a thought.....
