SP-01 advice?

Hi all, looking for a 9mm to supplement my .45 HK for cheaper range time....I'd shot a CZ75 long ago and was very impressed, and now the SP-01 has my attention. The local shop has one on consignment for 395, I dont know if this is a good deal or not. I didnt look to see how used it was, but at first glance it seemed to be in good shape. Is there anything in particular I should look for when I go back to examine it more closely? Any general advice? I hear these are fine pistols....

They are very nice. I just bought one and love it. Very balanced and fit your hand like a glove. I would just field strip it and take a look inside for wear, the rails and what not.

for that kind of money who cares what it looks like , for gods sake, buy it, or let somebody know where it is so we can have it at that price.

$395.00 for an SP-01? If you're serious, you need to go get it. People who praise their performance do so for a reason.

Offer them $400.00 out the door. That would be a deal.

400 for a sp01 is a great price, i got mine new for 505 shipped and thought that was a good deal

Sounds like its a good buy then. I had them hold it and Im going to go back in later and look it over. I hear about some of the CZ's needing replacement springs? I really dont want to deal with having to replace parts, I hope the reason this gun isnt so cheap is because its a jammomatic....

I'll be the first to post here what has been talked about quite a bit already, concerning the springs. Yes, they really should be replaced, especially for those who use WWB because the original design is for hotter ammo, so the spring is heavier to handle it. It isn't anything with the gun at all. Replacing the spring is easy! If you want to shoot nato rounds, then the original spring will work for you.

My SP-01 has a replacement spring that is lighter in pounds.

where would I find one? Is there one brand or weight of spring that is better than others? What kind of expense is this?

I wouldn't worry about the springs until you shoot it. My CZ-75 and CZ-40B have the original recoil springs and have been 100% reliable to date.

Fix it only if it's broke

Grab it!!! I have a SP01. Very accurate and easy to handle. I second the tought about the springs, you don't need to replace them, mine works just fine. 500 rd and counts without a problem.

As was mentioned, if you aren't interested let us know where/give us a phone # where we can grab it up. $395 for an Sp-01 is a good deal. If it is a little used, then that means it should be broken in.

In the first 300rnds mine had one FTE at about round 250. I emailed Angus at cz custom and he recommended 14lb recoil spring. I bought a three pact for 23 bucks i think.

Ok I bought the pistol, I had it on hold and as I was telling the guy that I was there to pick it up, another guy was walking in looking to buy it! I guess it was a good deal! Ill try and test it out tomorrow and report back with the results. Thanks for the advice.

you got a good deal. just make sure it comes with two magazines, as they are $45 new each plus shipping.

CZs are great guns. the sp-01 set up from the factory works great. my fiance is shooting uspsa limited division with it, and on pin and plink nights. i'm leaving it bone stock for now until she gets more comfortable with guns, then it's race gun time when she's ready.

If I found one at that price I would get another to compliment the one I own! The SP-01 is my favorite of all the guns I've shot. I know I can count on it. It is definitely the most accurate gun I shoot too.
