How are you carrying your spare C&B revolver cylinders on your person? I'd never given it much thought until I took my pistol and spare cylinder on a trailwalk-type shooting course last week.

So I came home and made up this belt pouch from scrape leather pieces to hold my spare Remington cylinder. It's a little rough but it works just fine. I cut the belt loop too large so I took a "tuck" in it so that it fit my Old El Paso gunbelt more snuggly.

It doesn't show in the picture but the bottom of the pouch is a 1/2" strip of leather. To remove the cylinder from the pouch, I put a finger on the bottom and push up and the cylinder comes right out.

cool but i dont see anything to cover the caps?

i know im a bad boy but i dont like to have a cyl loaded without the caps on
as im afraid moisture or crud will get in and cause ignition problems.

i use something i purchased from cabellas for the job it has a nice heavy piece of leather for the top which should prevent any accidental fires.

yep double checked and i can not see any top covering to prevent moisture penetration
or accidental cap discharge.

Very nice, good work, I don’t have leather craft skills yet. I use these from cabelas, they are not in the black powder section, you find them under shooting - accessories - holsters, on sale right now for 25.00 holds 2

Thanks Tinpan. I like those holders from Cabela's. Are those made specifically for the C&B cylinders? They appear to be the same design as modern speedloader holders. I have a few of those holders but mine are for a K frame revolver and that is too small for the Remington cylinder. But an N frame holder just might do the job. At any rate, that's a first class way to carry them.

I tried to give mine an "old west" look because I'll wear it on an old style gunbelt with Mexican loop holster. I doubt anyone back then ever carried a spare on their belt but I like it better and it's handier than carrying it in a pocket or belt bag.

Thanks George: Yes they are for speed-loaders, but fit the 58 cylinders great and have a hole on the bottom to push them up. I am sure it is not authentic, but I have a quick draw holster and belt made by the same company every thing matches and works for now. I am keeping my eye out for a good setup that is more authentic

Now you can say you've seen a period holster with spare cylinder pouch.
