Did she bite the moose back?
Moose are capable of jumping 6 ft fences. Don't get between a cow and her calf.
We had a bull moose come through the side of a deuce and a half in the Army at Ft. Richardson (Anchorage). It'd been running ahead of the convoy and finally decided to charge.
30-06 should drop them -- 44 mag. carbine is a bit light, as is a 30-30.
180 gr. bullet and some velocity -- .308 Win. would work.

I would be willing to bet that a 7.62x64R round from my M44 could do it. But I always thought it would be cool to hunt something that big with a pistol maybe THATS the use for the .50 conversion for the glock.

While we're on the subject, MY sister once walked down a path and met a moose walking up the same path. They may have actually collided. You know the cliche' about running so fast one puts a foot down to steer every 15 or 20 feet? Well, I saw my sister actually run like that--it IS possible, given sufficient motivation. I didn't get to see the moose, though.
I'll have to ask her about what would be a sufficient moosegun.

Either the good old 30-06 Springfield or the newer 20-08 Palin.
