They do raise buffalo around here, but in much smaller spaces, for meat mainly.
This guy has a herd that roams. 5000 acres is hard to come by in San Diego these days. Those who did own that kind of land sold off their ranches and retired very rich, and/or donated some of it to the County or Fish and Game, because the heirs couldn't afford the taxes on it!

We got Buffalo on ranches in Texas and the cross 'em with cattle .."Beefalo". Specialty market I guess 'cause I never hear buffalo priced on the farm report. LOL
