Originally only the receiver/barrel were parkerized and all the other metal parts were blued.
Between the front band and the sight there should be month-year a punch mark and flaming bomb, notifying the time the rifle was barreled and proofed.

Yeah, theres not a single mark there though. Barrel is blue-ish. Shiney but not a solid blued. Bits of gold and brown hues. Almost like a case hardening, but not.

A stainless SA 1911 is a nice gun and would be a tough choice in general for me against your A3 though I still tip towards the rifle.

Even more so since quality, affordable, new production 1911s are far from a rarity - current *emergency* not withstanding.

My 03s and Garands are always my simplest and greatest joys in file shooting.

Todd.

How DU labeled is the 1911?
If a discrete roll mark, you might get an even trade.
But, normally, an LGS will only want to give half retail for used/trade-in, so be ready to get an offer to pony up some cash.
If it were a face-to-face trade, that would be a good fair trade.
Half retail is pretty good. It depends on their demand too. It’s not unheard of for them to offer 1/3 of retail so they can sell it for 2/3 retail instead of sitting on it.

When asking about it, they said it would be a pretty much straight up trade, had the rifle not been on consignment. But alas, it was Colt or Cash only lol. It also depends on the gun and the current market. They had maybe one 1911 in the case so it would have probably moved pretty quick. Lots of duck hunters here in the Central Flyway. Im a mere 2 hours from maybe the most significant migratory bird area in the states; Cheyenne Bottoms. So the DU model would be pretty desired here.
