I stopped at a small muzzleloader/pawn shop yesterday. In the case he had a nice looking Uberti Walker. I couldnt believe the size of the thing. I had never seen one up close before. He wanted $289 for it if I remember right. Wish I had the extra cash I would have bought.

Ginormous, the General (the steam train at Kennesaw) and their Walker Dragoon.

That sounds almost like a childrens' story.

Arcticap - My sinning and whorish ways (back when I could still do it) would bring no honor to the glorious history of Samuel Walker's creation. In fact, I suspect ol' Sam's lanced through ghost would rise and visit me at night, adding to my already interesting array of nighttime demons.

Still . . . the idea . . . hmmm :D

My childish mentality fully qualifies me to author that title. Oh yes it does.

Hell, I could even start a thread and provide weekly vignettes of the book's content to stoke the juices of The Great Train Chase and Walker aficionados anywhere.

I'd be . . . dare I even say it? . . . a well respected author of late night reading!

A little humor late in the morning

I read the title to the thread and saw 'Spotted Walker in a Pawn shop'. I thought Spotted Walker - great, I gotta have one of those. I could use my spotted Walker to hunt spotted owls! Probably a little more gun than I need, but I can make it work.

(It's a NW thing - the ecologists have used junk science to limit logging and access to millions of acres of public land and to deny access to public use)

:neener:

Wild Man Dent

Ginormous

Hey! (Kennesawian for "Hi" in case "You ain't from around here.")

I moved away from Kennesaw in 1990 and I was wondering if Wild Man Dent was still running his "Best Little War-House in Georgia"?

He was a character alright, but the two Colt 1911s he wore were out of "character" for the period! I told him if Colt's were his preference then he should be carrying Walkers, but at least a couple of Colt 1860 revolvers - he wasn't impressed!

Kennesaw had a very colorful mayor at that time too.
Stevenson, if memory serves - he was involved in the passage of the Kennesaw law that required the heads of households to have a firearm! There was an objector clause that that made the law only a curiosity.

Burglars must have believed that it was required because the burglary rate went down by 90%!!!

Yup, old Dent is still around. Still has his "Herb and Civil War Surplus Shoppe" on the square as well.

Also, a Google search on Dent Myers Kennesaw GA can be quite insightful. He's a mess, that's for sure.

Dent is a man all out of sync with the times.

Burglary rate went down in part due to that ordinance and in part because no one knew if they would meet up with Dent!

LOL Now, there's a piece of work right there ! 'Spose there's a few tales floatin' 'bout surrounding his life?

looks like a neat shop ;) Wish I would of known about it when I visited the Kennesaw are years back :)

Yeah, Dent is a local icon. Crazy as a loon, and popular with all who come into contact with him. He gets better looking the older he gets.
