Hello all,
Recently picked up a used Springfield 1911 Mil Spec from a friend of mine. Ran a box of his ammo through the gun before purchasing and narry a problem.
Well all excited after buying the gun, I picked up a box of WWB and a box of CCI Independance, took two trips to the range and have had FTE problems with both types of ammo - 8 times with the WWB (7 of which were on shot 6 of 7) and twice with the Independance. I cleaned and oiled the gun between trips to the range and nothing changed from trip to trip. Most of the jams have been easy to clear - usually just stuck on the slide where a quick pull releases the brass - but I did have two that were considerably more difficult to remove.
One of the guys behind the counter mentioned that the brass is getting caught up when ejecting (he saw some flakes on the ejector) but I didn't get a chance to ask any follow up questions as someone passed out outside of the range and I ran out to help.
Anyway, hoping for some insight, what's my next step? I'd like to someday start competing in USPSA events but want to fix this problem before heading in that direction.
Any and all help is appreciated!
