Ordered and on its way. I love my Waypoint in 308. Really looking forward to getting the 300 Win Mag in my hands and out to the range. Sold my Fierce Carbon Rival to purchase the Waypoint. I’ll get a full range report posted as soon as I can get to the range next week. Glad Springfield finally got off their butts and got a long action Waypoint on the market.

Put my first rounds through the new Waypoint yesterday and I’m a fan so far. This rifle fits me much better than the Fierce Carbon Rival it replaced. I’ve put 40 rounds through it at this point. The Barnes Vortex was right at 1 MOA at 400 yards. The Federal Fusion was close to 1.5 MOA at 400 yards and the rifle seems to prefer the Remington Premier Swift Scirocco stuff at .77 MOA at 400 yards. All ammo was 180 grain factory fodder. Hard to say for sure what it really likes and doesn’t like after 40 rounds, eo nothing concrete, but the Federal Fusion definitely does open up compared to the other loads.

I plan on putting some more rounds through it next week when I’m off and see if the Remington stuff continues to shoot like it did today. I’m not really interested in running match ammo through it or shooting it much past five hundred yards because I bought it for a hunting rifle and I’m not going to hunt with match ammo or shoot a deer past five hundred yards, but I’ll be satisfied if I can consistently find a hunting round that runs .75 MOA or smaller out to 500 yards. We’ll see how it plays out.

PROS SO FAR:

I believe it will meet the factory accuracy guarantee.

The AG Composite stock is extremely comfortable and it feels as though they added some additional texture to the stock since I bought my 308.

It is a really good looking rifle.

Feeds extremely smoothly as a single shot just chucking rounds in the chamber over an empty mag.

It is lightweight and well balanced. Slightly heavier than my Fierce, but not as front heavy.

CONS:

The factory mag SUCKS! Gouges brass. Does not feed smoothly and rattles. I’ll be replacing it with a Magpul.

It’s still an expensive rifle, but honestly, I couldn’t have a rifle built with the same features for less money. I paid $2350 OTD shipped for a rifle with a carbon fiber barrel and stock that is guaranteed to shoot .75 MOA or better. Some will not see the benefits, though and for them, it’s just a lot of money for a deer rifle.

Looking forward to spending more time behind this rifle and killing some deer with it. I think what Springfield has managed to do with the 2020 series of rifles is pretty commendable and I’m already eye balling another Waypoint in 6mm Creedmoor.

Those are sweet looking rifles. I havent gotten to play with one yet, but they certainly seem to shoot well and have alot of boxes checked.

Nice. I remember the first one I saw on a shelf. I thought then they were on to something. One of the buddies of a lgs owner bought one as soon as he could get ahold of one. He shoots golf balls off the top of fence posts at 500 with it just for giggles.

At that price point you're getting a lot.

I put together a custom 300WM this year based on a highly modified Rem 700 action with a Bartlein barrel and put about $1000 more into it than the base price of the Waypoint.
