I am looking at trading for a NIB Springfield Armory XD45. Anyone out there have an opinion about or experience with this auto? I'm new to the Springfield line so any input is appreciated. thanks

gutterman,

i do not own a springfield armory xd, but they enjoy a pretty good reputation for being a well made and reliable auto loader as far as i know. from what i have seen and heard of them, i would be comfortable in owning one for ccw, HD, or for plinking.

I got a used XD45 from a guy.

It's a great gun. It's not my favorite toy, but it's a hell of a great tool. It's reliable, easy to operate, shoot and clean, and 13+1 rounds of a real caliber are a huge plus. (Otherwise, I'd rather shoot revolvers, but that capacity is worth having a semi.:) )

XD's

I happen to own the 45 acp and the 9mm in the XD format and they're both excellent guns. You could do a lot worse than the XD that's for sure.

i have shot many xd's and owned a few. i still have the very first one i ever got. it is my go anywhere do anything gun, it has over 16,000rds through it. it is uber reliable, and accurate.

I bought an XD 45 5 inch a couple months ago and I think so much of it that it is now my night stand gun.

I've shot 200 rounds through it, fmj, jhp, no issues. It was accurate with anything that I fed it.

I have a G30, and an xd45. I have long skinny hands, so the G30 fits my hand better. The xd45 shoots just as fine though. It doesnt jump around in my hand at all. In my amateur opinion, the XD has a much smoother trigger as well.

Ill vouch for nalioth, I sold him a CZ P01(that I want to buy back)*cough* *cough*

Very reliable. Extremely accurate. 13 + 1 rounds. Decent grip.

What's not to like?

I love mine.

I have over 4K rounds thru my XD-45. It is absolutely reliable (never had a ftf or a fte with ball, jhp, or truncated cone ammo (it will not feed swc)), is accurate, and fits my hand very well. I've had 2 1911s and a Hi-Power and like the XD as much or better as a shooter for HD, SD, or plinking. It is not really designed for serious target shooting (trigger is not as good as the 1911). It is the easiest pistol to clean I've ever seen. I handload and it eats .45 target loads with bullseye, thru +P loads with AA No5(185 gr @1175 fps :what:) with ease. It packs 13+1, whats not to like?

I bought my XD45 in late 06-- Probably have shot about 4K through it so far-- it has had only 1 FTF ever-- not sure why, but it was in the first 200 rounds-- it is my cool/cold weather cary pistol-- unfortunately Texas stays hot, so I really only carry it on me Oct-Feb--

I love it though, and will probably never sell it..

I've got a couple of XDs. I love the natural point of aim and have never had one malfunction. Don't really care for the stock, mushy trigger though

thanks for the replies-i'm convinced.will be looking to trade a ruger model 96 w/ scope and a ruger security six. thanks again all.

i bought an xd45 in 5in when they first came out, liked it so much i bought a xdsc40 to carry.

wish i could get a xdsc45acp

I own 2 XD 9x19 SubCompacts, a 357 Sig Service, a .45 acp Service and a 9x19 XD-M. My wife owns one XD 9x19 SC. We like them, period.

Of the many handguns we own, we carry the XD's.

Hope this helps.

Fred

I bought a XD 45ACP "Tactical" in January. I've put several thousand rounds through it. Competed in several club IPSC matches and have been very happy with it.

Conversely, I recently bought an XDm 9mm a few weeks ago and have not been as happy with that.

If the XD 45 your looking to trade for is as solid as mine, its a great pistol!

I almost made the mistake of selling my XD45 this month, I'm so glad I came to my senses, it's a great gun. 100% reliable, very accurate too. I read it won't feed SWC at all so I stick with FMJ and LRN ammo at the range.
