Springfield MilSpec Parked?

Does anyone know when Springfield introduced the MilSpec parked? I'm not talking about the GI MilSpec, I mean the MilSpec with the 3 dot sights and the lowered ejection port. It looks really sharp parked as opposed to blued.

The one I got in 1992 was parkerized.

How has the parked finish held up?

It held up very well though I don't CCW as I'm just a civillian here in the PRK. It was reblued last year after I sent it off to Yost Bonitz for a face lift and overhaul.

I want to use it as a base for a MEU SOC type 1911. IIRC the MEU SOC are parked not blued.

Mine's great. I had it worked over by a local 'smith, master gunsmith and former SEAL. He reparked it.

Parkerizing is inexpensive, and easy to have re-done. More wear-resistant than most bluing, but certainly shows holster and other wear

Get one and don't look back! The 'smith said the milspec slides are harder than the ones on the "loaded" models (putting on fire suit for incoming flames). The gun is heavy, and handles hot loads very well.

There is a "Mil-Spec" model and a "GI .45" model (although some do call the GI either the GI MilSpec or at one time I think they were called the WWII Repo?) Anyway, the easiest way to tell them apart (for me any way) is to look at the cocking serrations on the slide. The Mil-Spec model has the angled serrations, The GI model has the vertical serrations.

Ive also noticed the Mil-Spec has "Model 1911-A1" and "Cal .45" under it stamped on the slide. The GI only has "Model 1911-A1" stamped. Hope that helps

Yep, they came parked. I got mine used, the finish has held up pretty good, but I dont carry it, its primarly a HD handgun. It leaves the house about once a month. It has seen some time in leather judging by the wear on the slide, but the previous owner put it there so I dont know how much carry time it has seen. It basicly falls into the fobus holster it stays in now, so its not hard on the finish.
