From what I read, the Springfield XD may be the most popular pistol in a long time, it seems to be managing what Glock couldn't do, in that it is finding more fans with the Sig and Beretta crowd than the Glock ever managed.
So it was that I scurried off to Gander Mountain to try one out. The sales assistant advised me that they sell more XD 9mms (and .40 magazines ) than any other make they carry, and they carry the full Glock range.
I held the gun and instantly didn't like it, it felt just like a Glock and pointed high for me, the grip and trigger reach just didn't seem natural, but I did like the addition of the grip safety.
So I came away with no great impressions of what I'm sure is a fine pistol and I found myself wondering if I'm in a minority of one.
