I would go handle them before you decide. Most here would likely recommend the CZ, but just like the CZ SP-01 the Tactical is very nose heavy which I don't like. All will be good pistols and will have their own following, but you need to see for yourself which you like.

Glock fits well, XD is nice, but no one close has the CZ tacticle...if it is like the 75B handle than I won't like it-too much reach for the trigger for my tastes...

just looking for other folks experience/perspective

I have a CZ-75B, and it shoots better than I can.
I didn't think Glocks had a reputation for being the most accurate guns... I KNOW they go bang when you pull the trigger, but I thought they suffered a little in the accuracy department.

the Tactical Sport is very different than a 75B. the frame is larger side to side..but not that bad. it offers a single action trigger that is very nice from the factory..about every one I have seen comes in about 2#. it is very accurate with a really good frame/slide/barrel fit. In .40 it comes with three 17rnd mags, in 9mm, three 20rnd mags. some spare parts are also included.

The XD and Glock are not bad guns..but the triggers are nowhere close to the TS coming from the factory..I have seen some really nice triggers on Glocks and XDs after being worked over.

my TS..

I reduced the grip by taking off the checkering on the frontstrap and backstrap. undercut the triggerguard and the beavertail. used the thin aluminum grips. the trigger from the factory was 2#..after respringing and doing some cleanup..it broke at 1.25#.
neat guns..

i am a huge fan of xd's i have 2 of em and i love em, my service model is more accurate than i am, and a joy to shoot.

The cz Sp-01 is an excellent target gun, and they are only 500 bucks. Id take that over the XD and Glock anyday.

Go with the Glock you won't be disappointed. There is a show this weekend and you can probably get a great deal.

I purchased my Glock 17 as an alternative to my Glock 21, given the rising cost of ammo. It was a good move, as the gun is just as much fun to shoot, and with the ammo savings, paid for itself in the first year!

A good omen, the first stot fired at 30-feet with the stock sights, pierced the crosshairs of the ten ring on the B27-Q Half-Size target. Happiness is... ;)

In the two years I've owned it, my G17 has fired about 12,000 rounds, without so much as a hiccup! :neener:

It is as accurate as any 9 mm I've handled, and the recent addition of a LaserMax UNI-GREEN, rail-mounted laser, proves it! :D

With the laser, center-cored ten rings at 30 feet are the norm. Without the laser, center-cored targets at 30 -40 feet are routine. :uhoh:

I added a Hogue grip sleeve and Dawson Precision FO Adj target sights.

Here's a pic of the gun sporting a SureFire X200 weapon light...

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made! :)

Glock for price, reliability, design, ease of use, accuracy, look, feel of the new design, versatility ect. Heck I'm going to go hug my glock right now!

Prices seem a little high, you must have went to Sharp Shooters!! Shop around and go back, they will match documented prices of area gun shops. My brother picked up an XD-sc and he told me what he was paying. I found the same gun cheaper at galleryofguns.com in a shop in Odessa at Tejas Shooting Sports (great people btw) and the folks at Sharp Shooters looked it up and honored the price. It definetly pays to do your homework.

$650 for a Glock 17 ?!?!?!?!?!? Holy crap!

Budsgunshop.com = $494 delivered to your dealer($10 transfer).

Buy one for $504 and be done with it.

look at the rest of the CZ-75 series of pistols, like the B, BD, SA, etc. the tactical sport is a high end model that is pricey. the rest usually fall around the 450 mark with the glock 17 and xd-9.

Man, even prices are big in Texas, $575.00 for a 9mm Tac XD. I paid $450.00 NIB for mine. Can we assume you have shot the three mentioned firearms and you are simply asking our opinion? I think we'd all admit, the XD/Glock/CZ are accurate from the steady rest. The real question is how accurate are they in your hands? We don't know the answer to that question. For simple "target" shooting, the cheapest in your part of the country, according to you is the XD Tactical. A stock 5" barrel and 16 rd mag would probably be a very good start, for accuracy and reliablity.

Of your choices, CZ no question. However you might want to look at the Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match a $500 gun that is identical in most respects to the $1,000 CZ. As a bonus, buy it in 45acp and for $200 each you can buy slides, barrels and magazine setups to convert to 9mm, 38super, .40S&W, 10mm

My two 9mm pistols are a Glock G34 and CZ SP01 Phantom and both are great guns. You can't go wrong with either just remember each one has its strong points and low points.

Here's how they break down for me:

The Glock has a much better fit and finish and just feels like its built from granite. The Glock is also easier to break down and has fewer parts. If you looking for a easy gun to work on or learn to work on, the Glock is it. I would have to say from a quality standpoint the Glock has an edge.

For the CZ, I really like the sights and grip angle much better. The CZ really points better. To me GLock's suffer on the sights in particular the front sight post is too tall and wide for my tastes.

Accuracy-wise both are good but I find the CZ easier to shoot good groups quicker. Not that I don't shoot just as good with my Glock but only that it took me a little longer to get as proficient with my Glock as I did with my CZ.

Again either GLock or CZ is great so you really can't go wrong with either one.

My preference is the Glock. The "weird" grip angle fits me great.

I had the XD before they fixed the finish and it was a good gun, but the finish was awful. I understand that problem to be resolved now. My brother (lives in Lubbock too!) has the XD-sc and can't say enough good things about it.

I have never shot a SA/DA CZ but have shot the SA type and that is a very sweet pistol. It would take a heck of a bargain to get me to pick a SA/DA over a SAO, DAO or a striker fired system where the trigger pull is consistent every time.

Knowing you are in Lubbock I cannot recommend highly enough that you shop around. The cities around you are close enough that you could drive to Midland-Odessa or Amarillo and still get it cheaper than your quoted price. Fred's was unusually high when I lived there, Patriot is reasonable but the selection is limited. Patriot also rents guns, usually Glocks and the sort. As I stated earlier Sharp Shooters will match most prices if you find it cheaper else where + they are good folks to deal with and have an incredible selection.
