Looking to buy a new 9mm for range work. Based on feel, I've narrowed my choice down to 2 guns (which are very different), the CZ 75BD and the Springfield XD-9. Everything I read is good about both. I've never shot either, but have shot the the Sig P226 & Glock 17. I understand that the CZ has a edge in accuracy, but the XD fits my hands better. Has anyone had problems with either of these guns? Are there any other options you would consider?

No experience with the xd-9, but the cz is a great firearm. If the xd fits your hand better, I'd go with that one. Operationally, the XD and the CZ have their differences, so it's personal preference really.

You could do a forum search and do quite a bit of reading on both.

Go with what works best for you. The CZ is a fantastic sidearm. The XD/HS2000 is also well regarded, but I have never fired one. My personal choice is the CZ, which works perfectly for me,and fits me like a glove.

I have a cz and I use to have a HS2000(XD9). Both are very good guns but my cz was more accurate. For a range gun I say cz because it is heavier with less muzzle flip. Mark

i have 2 xds and there are no other handguns out there that i prefer more than an xd, i have never had an issue of reliability in 7k combined between the 2 that i own. i service, and one sc model in .40 i love em and couldn't be happier. i am a huge fan of the xd so naturally i am gonna reccomend the xd.

I recently narrowed my two choices for a new 9mm down to the same two choices. I too like the feel of the XD but fell for the CZ. A tried and proven design with great reviews from the ole Cooper himself. I will probably purchase an XD in the future as I really do like the way if feels but am very happy with my CZ. And yes...very accurate with ease of disassembly for cleaning.

I have had just about every 9mm pistol made. For the range, the CZ would be my pick. In fact, I currently have about a dozen 9mm CZ pistols. All the other 9mms have been sold.

Best regards.

I own both. I like both but they are very different. I prefer the XD for carry due to the weight and I prefer the CZ for the range due to the weight.

I've never shot the CZ. But I have shot the Springfield XD .45 and loved it. I think it's a great gun.

I would definitely have no problem carrying the XD as a duty weapon.

I think it's one of the best guns out there. Also has the largest capacity for a .45.

I was in the same boat a while back, and I went with the CZ 75 BD. I couldn't be happier. Plus, I got the CZ before the prices skyrocketed, so it was quite a bit cheaper than the XD at the time. I've also fired an XD side by side with it, and I like the XD a lot, too.

I prefer the CZ, but if I couldn't have a CZ, I'd probably have an XD. Cost wise, you can still probably find a CZ a little cheaper than an XD if you look.

While I have only shot xd's and have never owned one, my next pistol purchase will be an xd...I can say that the CZ75B line are some of the best pistols for the money out there, if not the best.

With that said, you might be better off going with the XD anyway if it fits your hands better.

But if the feel of the two were exactly the same, I'd definately go with the CZ for the accuracy and weight(for range duty).

I have an XD9 Service model and another one on the way since I liked the first one so much. It feels like it was made for my hand. I really wanted a CZ also but my fingers are short and the reach to the trigger seemed a little too long for my me.

I don't like handguns with grip safeties and CZs are excellent firearms, so the 75BD is a no-brainer for me. I'd definitely pick the CZ.

Since it's just a range gun, I'd get the CZ and send it off to Angus Hobell (SP?) for a trigger job. I have a CZ75 and an XD (though it's a .45). The XD is a great carry and fighting gun, but on the range it's just another plastic pistol with one of those lousy plastic pistol triggers.

Range guns have the luxury of not worrying about their weight and of having crisp, light triggers massaged to a point you wouldn't want on the street. Even with a trigger job, the XD won't even be in the same ballpark. That's not knocking the XD (I often carry my XD), it's just the nature of the beast.

Don't worry too much about how they fit your hand. There are lots of stocks (grip panels) for the CZ that can dramatically change it's feel. Either way, both are excellent guns and you should buy what your heart is asking for.

As others have said, you're choosing between two great guns and probably can't go wrong either way.

You should shoot whichever feels more comfortable in your hands. Ergonomics is factor which is all too often overlooked.

For what it's worth, I shoot a CZ75 9mm and I love it becuase it's comfortable to hold, and it's passes my blind aim test (Look at a target, close eyes, draw and aim pistol, open eyes, see where sight picture is). Just becuase I love it and it works fine for me doesn't mean diddly to you since you don't have my hands, arms, eyes.

I'm a big fan of the blind test. Go to your shop that has both, and without looking at them, feel them. Your hands will be drawn to one in particular and viola, you have it.

Either way, enjoy the new toy!!!

I have an XD9T and a CZ75 SP-01. Got the XD first. It's an amazingly pointable gun. Added a 4# trigger job and Dawson sights (from Springer Precision) and it shoots lights out. With a Pistolgear/Storm Lake semi-drop in barrel and I get 2" 5 shot groupings @ 30' offhand (good for me). That being said, the CZ shoots almost as well stock. I'm thinking of adding a CZ/Hobdell hammer maybe a EFK barrel soon. Between the two, I would give up the XD first, although the trigger now is amazing.

Due to the extra weight of the CZ75B over the XD9, I'd sugges comparing the XD to the CZ75 D PCR or P-01. Its more apples to apples. The PCR and P-01 are lightweight alloy compact versions of the 75. They are both wonderfull pistols but I prefer the CZ's.

I also don't know what to buy

Should I buy a glock 19, a xd compact a cz P-01 or a fn pistol all in 9 m.m.??? I think the cz will shoot the best groups from the reviews I have read, but parts are more expensive.Glock magizine is half the price of a cz.The cz is the only aluminum frame. The fn is a little more expensive. The cz has a 5 year warrenty.Glock and xd lifetime and I don't know about fd.I have a 38 snobnose for carry so the size and weight is not really a factor, nothing carry's as good as a snubnose 38 aluminum frame revolver.

Btw, does CZ offer a life-time warranty with free repair, as Ruger and Taurus do? I am considering buying a stainless CZ75 myself but want the customer support of a Ruger.

I bought the CZ75BD and the Kadet Kit back in early 2002. What a great combination. Very nice gun. Great accuracy with the .22 kit. About 10 bricks of .22 will smoothe the trigger out very nicely.

which gun

No cz does not.I have not looked at the ruger but I would not buy the taurus.Chech out the play at the end of the barrel on a taurus then look at the cz(no end play)This will affect your accuracy down range.

Most Kadets install without a hitch, right out of the box. You might have to file the slide rails on the Kadet to make it fit. Out of the box, the Kadet fit 3 of my pistols. I had to do very minor fitting (5 minutes) to make it fit on my SP01. The manual comes with detailed fitting instructions.

The slide rails on the Kadet only serve to hold the adapter to the frame. The only time it moves is for installation and removal. There is a miniature slide built into the Kadet. The 22 doesn't have the energy to move the full size slide.

You can pick up a Kadet for under $300. I got mine from manofsteele here on the forums. He's a great guy to work with.
