I have a buddy that has a springfield armory xd in .40. From what i understand it was previusly made under the name hs2000. We got to wondering if there are any preban magazines avalible for it. I am pretty sure they are avaliable for the 9, but have no clue about the .40.

I guess this is pretty pointless because of the end of the ban.
thanks Greg

Ps we got a conceal carry in MO finally

As I understand it, most metal mags will fit the XD...SIG, Beretta, S&W. There is a slight mod that has to be made for the mag release, but since the mag will still function as originally designed, it's no big deal.

THeir are no pre-ban mags designed specifically for the XD because even as the HS2000 it was still post ban. As 10 Ring pointed out other brands can be fitted to work in the XD. I would suggest contacting Springfield because they were selling mags that they fitted for $29.95 a piece.

On the XD9 you can use the XD40 mags and the hold 15 rounds. For the Xd40 I have heard of people using beretta mags and getting 11 or 12 rounds of 40 in them. The thing with the beretta mags is they are too long for the XD and if you smack them into the gun they can hit and break off the ejector. I think the factory XD LEO mags are only suppose to hold 12 rounds anyway. Mark

"Will those modified magazine still work in their original firearm?"

Why do you ask Devonai. Is it because they would be an illegal "manufactured" full-cap if they were altered enough so that they don't still work in the original gun? I don't know - I'm just askin? G-man alert...JK :)

Quack, if I had a P99, I wouldn't get one either. But since I don't have one, the XD is the poor man's P99, so I plan to.

First - "is this good for the gun"... the gun doesn't know any difference - externally the XD9 and XD40 magazines are identical (exception being the little crease that limits capacity)...

Second - "will it work in the original gun after modification" ... doesn't need any modification (occasionally you have to bend the feed lips on the XD40 magazine a 1/100th of an inch or so - but has no effect on feeding in the XD40...

All I meant was that if a modified magazine would still work in the original pistol you could have hi-caps for both weapons. A loaded magazine could instantly be used in either pistol. That would be cool.

errrrr, Devonai?

Do you mean to suggest that a mag loaded with 9mm will work in an xd40 just because the mag fits, or vice versa? If that's how it works, I'm gonna go load up my CZ P-01 with some .45s and see what happens! I bet I can make them fit in the mag! :D

Me speak English good!

I don't know how I've managed to miscommunicate my point so many times, so here it is again:

IF I had a Beretta 92FS with hi-caps AND I had them converted to work with a 9mm XD-9 THEN could I use the magazine in BOTH weapons???

Am I 5 by 5 yet?

My new XD9 came with a flyer in the box that advertized factory pre-ban Beretta 92FS 17-round mags, available from Springfield Armory, for the XD9. SA is selling them (limit 5 per customer) for $34.95 but you have to send the flyer from the box in as the order form.

Converted mags will work in both guns. I have some s&w model 59 mags that I user in my HS that will still work in a smith pistol. Mark

I use the same mags in my XD357 and my XD9. I didn't have to modify the mags at all, and they have been reliable in both weapons. I have a Beretta 92FS, but I haven't been tempted to modify its mags to fit in the XD...yet.
