I will start out with a 3 letter word. WOW! This is not only a well thought out gun, but a well thought out package.

The package is brilliant. It comes with the pistol, a match grade barrel, an excellent case, 2 mags (9 round flush mount and 13 round extended), a holster, a double mag carrier, a mag loader, 3 sizes of back straps, and 3 sizes of grip extenders (to match the back strap size you select so there isn't a gap). I think the larger capacity mag is a huge bonus. We all know that the grip is the tough part in CCing....but who cares if the back up mag is larger.....it is just as easy to conceal.

I hit a local indoor range today and put 140 rounds thru it. I ended up shooting 100 rounds of Winchester white box FMJ and 40 rounds of Speer Gold Dot HP.....all in 230 gr.

Impressions:

1) Soft shooter...very controllable for a shorter frame.

2) I shot equally as well with the flush mount 9 round mag as I did with the 13 round extended grip mag.

3) Accurate....I was able to shoot several "one ragged hole" Shoot-N-C targets at 30 feet.

4) Comfortable......I switched out the medium back strap for the small and it felt perfect.

5) Reliable....not very many rounds (140) but no issues at all.

6) Attractive looking gun

I would recommend this weapon to anyone who likes the .45 ACP round. I think it will be a big seller.

Flush mount mag on left and full cap mag with grip extender on right:

love to hear this i am considering one of these in my what to carry next. would like to get something in .45 thought about a kahr because i havent tried one yet. ive had 2 xdms in 9mm full size black and bi tone 3.8 when it came out. obviously i bought 2 so i liked them. this is defintely in my top 5 .... decisions decisions...

I didn't know that the grip extensions were sized to meet the backstraps...dernit...I really had my heart set on the SR9C as my concealed carry gun but I think my XDM45 needs a little brother!

Thanks for the report! This is the Compact .45 to own. Of course I have the full size XDm and I think it's the top choice of striker fired .45 ACP pistols. ;)

Do they offer this with factory night sights? I noticed the other 3.8s have them as an option. I'm not interested in adding aftermarket sights. This may be the compact .45 I've been looking for. Thank you for all the info on this fine looking weapon.

......and a bore axis higher than willy nelson.

Just wondering what problem you have with it of the high bore axis ?? I have shot many XDM's and even have a regular XD and muzzle flip for me even with the 45's and 40's seem normal to me just like any other gun such as Glocks, etc. but somehow I seem to shoot the XD/XDM's much better and more accurately. Again just wondering what your experience or complaint is with the higher bore axis. God Bless :)

I too notice my split times are actually quicker with an XDm than other things I shoot, including 1911's. So while on paper this might be an issue it doesn't appear to matter in reality.

I have an XDm Compact in .40 and I really like the extended mag for the backup reload. It does feel a little strange though when shooting. You can feel the bottom half of the grip, the part on the magazine, move slightly in your hand while shooting. Not a problem, just a little unusual.
