I took some Hornady Critical Defense (9mm) rounds to the range the other day to put through my fairly new (but quite enjoyable) XDm 3.8.
When loading the magazine, I noticed that it was effectively treating the mag as a single-stack...! I only got 9-10 rounds in before compressing the spring to the max.
It looks as though that, due to the shape of the round, the magazine doesn't like to shift the cartridge to the side, but just stacks them one on top of the other.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm relatively new to all this, so it might just be something obvious.
