I'm thinking about getting an XD-45 and will be shooting one this weekend. However I will not be able to afford to practice if I can only use factory ammo. The Springfield warranty specifically says the use of reloaded/re-manufactured ammo voids the warranty. I would like to know if people are using reloads in their Springers and what the company's attitude really is about the use of reload/re-manufactured ammo.

My XD .45 would shoot Ranier or Hornady SWC's at 1.260 O.A.L.
The same as I shoot in my 1911's.:)

Springfield XD40 SubCompact Conversion

Does anyone know where I can purchase a 357Sig. barrel for a Springfield XD40 Subcompact? Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. Z

Other than one box of WWB, my 9mm service and 45ACP tactical have never ate anything but my own reloads. Nary a problem with one exception - some 45 LSWCs I shoot in my Ruger P345 cause FTEs in the XD-45.

As far as the warranty, how is it possible to know reloaded ammo was fired in the pistol? And anyway, I believe my reloads are made with more care than factory ammo.

I'm guessing SA is really saying, "If you blow up your Springer (and your fingers) with a double charge, we're not going to be held responsible for fixing the pistol and paying your medical bills!"

my xd service model has ate many many reloads and even more remanufactured ammo from ultramax. the 180gr cnl to be exact, without a single issue. remanufactured and your own reloads are a great way to get alot of bang for your buck.

I have posted this same question here and on other forums as well with no answer in sight... From what I am told, one does not exist (yet)...

If you find a supplier, please let us (me) know!!!

Good Luck!

My XD doesn't like LSWC's (only 97% reliable with it). It LOVES everything else I feed it. I've been shooting Rainer 200 HP's in it lately under 8 grains of AA#5 at 1.250 COL. It'll shoot under 2 inches easily at 25 yards. It also seems to like 230grain LRN's. Overall about 2800 reloads through it 200 factory loads.

Try some AA # 5 and 200 Gr.Berry's HP's at 1.200. They shoot great too. Better I think, and feed great!

Thanks for the info, people. I sort of tend to agree with Crimp's idea that the warranty is Springfield's way of saying, "if the gun fails because you tried to shoot a double load of Bull'sEye it's your problem, not ours". Personally I would rather shoot my reloads because the only problems I've ever had, or personally seen, have involved factory ammo. One was when a friend's .357 Smith and Wesson had the cylinder locked solidly in place when the brass on the factory loads backed completely out of the cylinder under recoil from the first two shots. The other was with some Remington 230 FMJ in my Series 70 Colt jamming back into the case when they were chambered. Or were supposed to be chambered, luckily they caused an FTF and when I saw the bullet half back in the case I said no more of these. I ran the rest of the box thru my crimp die and had no more problems.

My XD45 just loves 230gr Rainiers, 230gr Poly coated Precision (OAL 1.270), 230gr flat points (OAL1.255), HP, SWC, the list goes on. I shoot reloads all the time. As for the warranty, I think Crimp has it right. They won't fix your pistol under warranty for handload kabooms.
