On SR9 - I had my good ruger experience with my previous P89 so I thought this would be my next 9mm pistol. However, I did let go of the P89 since I find it too big for a 9mm, but that gun was uberly reliable and tough. My likes on the SR9, flat and slim grips almost like my 1911, considering the 17+1 capacity, though I find the gun tall - maybe to accommodate the 17capacity with a very slim grip. Obviously a trade-off; slim and long for the grip, or for the other brands fat and short grip height. Good reviews so far, but creepy trigger as others said on the net (I can live with that).

On M&P9MM - Well, its good enough to be issued to other PDs. Fair reviews over the net, 3rd to the most recommended polymer after the XD... what else ???

And NO NO NO glocks pls.

So help me decide. Thanks.

I have never fired the SR9. I have fired a M&P in 40 cal and 9mm and they werent bad at all. I am not very pleased with ruger autos due to bad experience with them. The
SR9 has already had a safety recall, but the M&P is also having some issues surface as well. So its basically a toss up. I prefer my glocks over both of them.

I went with the SR9. I like the M&P and it has a great feel to it. But the SR9 has a sweet trigger and 1911 feel to it. Plus I've always liked Rugers.

TOugh choice -- new gun vs. newer gun...hmmm...
I'd probably go w/ the M&P b/c it has more real world users and thus a longer track record vs. the Ruger.

I haven't shot an M&P yet but the SR9 is a sweet gun. They both feel great. I think you will be happy with either, I can't vote. I think the M&P has better ergonomics.

I own two M&Ps, a fullsize 9 and a compact. I've shot a lot of guns over the years and there are few guns I've found that shoot as well as my M&Ps. They are incredibly easy to shoot well. I don't have any experience with the SR9. I would like to see them produce a compact model of it.

I own the M&P and shot both while I was deciding. A tough choice for me. Both were VERY accurate, both seemed reliable.

For me, it boiled down to comfort. The M&P was more comfortable, so that's where I spent my money.

BUT, I still think very highly of the SR9, and recommend both.

I had a SRP, didn't like it and sold it. When I bought my last 9mm it was a choice between the M&P and Springfield XD9sc. I now have the XD9sc.

It's your call buddy. I labored for over an hour handling both at the gun shop. That was after countless hours narrowing it down. I went with the SR9. Love it, don't regret it but........I still want a MP. Two outstanding choices. I preferred the feel and looks of the SR9. Totally a personal thing. You can't go wrong with either.

geez....! iv had to vote for/recommend the m&p in like 5 threads in like 15 min.

well that should say enough about my thoughts on it.
