Hello all... a friend in the Puget Sound (Wash. State) area sent me a note
about his new to him, Star M43 in 9MM - He started into handguns about
a year ago. He just got this Star M43 from a mutual acquaintance.
I read his note and to me it sounds like an extractor issue
Here's his note:
took the Star to the range yesterday, and for a couple of mags, it
shot nicely. Smooth trigger pull, and nice groups. The rear sight
needs to be adjusted a little. But then a problem cropped up. It
started jamming.
The spent brass stays partially in the breech, blocking the new
cartridge from feeding. They meet on the feed ramp, and everything
gets bound up. I ran a boresnake through it, still jams. I tried
three different kinds of ammo, still jams after a shot or two. I can
make it jam just cycling the slide by hand. All the same ammo went
straight through the Glock, no problems.
I cleaned the gun thoroughly before I went to the range, and tonight
I'll clean it again. Any ideas? What should I look for before I take
it to a gunsmith? The Star is a Browning design derivative, more like
a Hi-Power than a 1911.
----------- Ideas or Experience with this model?
ANybody know of a gunsmith that knows Star semi-autos in the
Puget Sound area?
